As per the wording of regulation [url=https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/regulations/#3a1:3p4j4tyq]3a1[/url:3p4j4tyq], a competitor should be disqualified from the whole event if they miss the first attempt thereof. This is actually contrary to the intent and the spirit of the regulations as a whole, and it has been sensibly disregarded by WCA delegates on several occasions by allowing competitors to receive a DNS for the first attempt and still be able to do the remaining attempts. We feel that until new regulations are released, an official statement is necessary allowing competitors to miss the first attempt of some events without being disqualified from the event. We, therefore, state a provision allowing competitors to have access to subsequent attempts even if they are not present for the first one (DNS) when the event consists on non-consecutive attempts, i.e. Fewest Moves Solving, Multiple Blindfolded, 4x4x4 Cube Blindfolded and 5x5x5 Cube Blindfolded. - The WCA Board
