CubingUSANationals2018
A competitor broke the single World Record the first round of 3x3x3 One-Handed. It was later found that the cube was not scrambled correctly.
Original scramble: L2 D F2 D2 F2 L2 R2 D F U2 F' R' B2 F D' B2 L2 R'
Given scramble: L2 D F2 D2 F2 L2 R2 D F U2 F' R' B2 F D' B2 L R'
A provisional extra attempt was granted to the competitor. The WRC has decided to accept the result of the extra attempt as the official result because the given scramble was not an officially generated scramble.
Relevant Regulations:
4b) Puzzles must be scrambled using computer-generated random scramble sequences.
4g) After scrambling a puzzle, the scrambler must verify that the puzzle is scrambled correctly. If the puzzle state is wrong, the scrambler must correct it (e.g. by solving the puzzle and applying the scramble sequence again).
This decision is in line with several precedents.
