- Information
CubingZA is excited to announce the Mimosa Mall Master Cubers 2023 speedcubing competition! This competition will focus on a variety of shorter, popular events, several of which have never been held in Bloemfontein before. Don't forget that to participate you need to register for the competition in the "Register" tab, and make an EFT payment to confirm your entry. Please see Registration Requirements below for the banking details and when registration opens.
Masters and Challengers
This competition will recognise the performance of both established cubers and relatively new competitors - if you have never been to a competition before, or come from the Free State and your only other competition you have attended was Mimosa Mall Master Cubers 2022 (last year's competition), then you qualify as a Challenger. All Challengers will be able to qualify for their own prizes and podium places. Otherwise, if you have attended at least 2 competitions before, you are a Master Cuber and will be competing against some of the best in the country for the top prizes!
All New Competitors
If this is your first time competing, or the first time your child or ward is competing, please ensure to bring with ID (card, book, passport, birth certificate) so that we can verify that the name is spelled correctly, the Date of Birth is correct, and the Nationality is correct.
Please also ensure you have all the puzzles you need to compete - we do not supply puzzles for competitors. You are welcome to ask other competitors if you can borrow their puzzle for a certain event, but there is no guarantee. If you need a puzzle before the competition, check out www.speedcubes.co.za, www.cubeco.co.za, or https://cubestuff.co.za/ to order your puzzles before the comp.Spectators
As this is a public venue in a shopping mall, any spectators can attend for free. Please be aware that there will be arranged seating specifically for parents and guardians of competitors, but this will be limited.
Volunteering
Please note that all competitors are required to assist with volunteering during the competition - either in the role of "runner", "judge" or "scrambler". These roles will be explained as part of the "New Competitor Tutorial", but you can take a look at this video.
Sponsorship
Massive thanks to Mimosa Mall for sponsoring this competition. As part of the sponsorship, they are providing the venue free of charge, as well as all of the competition sound/video equipment we will need and assisting with setup, advertising, and of course, providing a very generous amount of prize money for the winners!
Lucky Draw
During prize-giving after 3x3 Finals on Saturday, we will be having a Lucky Draw for two winners to receive R250 Speedcubes.co.za vouchers each with free shipping on their order! If you needed another reason to stick around and watch 3x3 Finals other than the amazing speed of some of Africa's top speedcubers, maybe you could be one of the lucky winners and walk away with some free cubes or apparel courtesy of our local speedcubing store.
