Registration Policies
All competitors must read this!
last revised 17 June 2017
Purpose
Registration for this competition will be very different from recent NorCal competitions.
This document is to provide all competitors and parents the information they need regarding online registration, online waitlisting, and the potential for on-site registration.
Before You Register
All prospective registrants need a WCA account. Competitors can create their own WCA account by clicking here and entering the required information. For returning competitors (i.e. have competed before), you will need to claim your WCA ID.
Brandon will assist competitors trying to connect their WCA account with their WCA ID.
How to Register Online
The initial competitor limit for this competition is 150. This limit may be raised; check this page for updates.
Prospective competitors register by:
1. Signing into their WCA account;
2. Clicking "Register" on the left side of this webpage, selecting the events they would like to compete in, and submitting their registration;
3. Paying the registration cost of $18.75. (The registration cost is the same, regardless of how many events are selected.)
How to Pay for Registration Online
Payment will be done through Stripe to CubingUSA!
Click on the "Register" tab on the left side of the webpage to register and pay all in one place!
How to Withdraw Registration with Refund
Registered competitors withdraw their registration by emailing the organisation team (bayareaspeedcubin@gmail.com) the following:
1. Statement of intent to withdraw registration with refund.
2. Name (and WCA ID, if applicable) of the competitor.
3. IMPORTANT: Confirmation of registration payment and name of payer.
Competitors who withdraw their registration will be refunded 100% of their registration payment. Attempts to issue chargebacks without emailing the organisation team will result in offending competitors being disqualified from competing in 6.25 Bay Area 2017, and barred from competing in future competitions.
Waitlist Policies
If online registration meets the competitor limit, online registration will immediately close, and a waitlist will open. At this time, all prospective competitors who did not pay will have their pending registrations deleted, and will have to sign up for the competition again to join the waitlist.
Prospective competitors sign up for the waitlist by:
1. Signing into their WCA account;
2. Clicking "Register" on the left side of this webpage, selecting the events they would like to compete in, and submitting their registration.
As spots open in registration, waitlist members will be given the opportunity to register for the competition. Waitlist members will be given this opportunity in the order that they signed up.
Waitlist members register by:
1. Receiving an email from the organisation team (subject line "[6.25 Bay Area 2017]: It's Your Turn to Register!");
2. Within 48 hours, paying the registration cost of $18.75, or beginning to arrange an alternative method of payment;
3. Emailing the organisation team confirmation of payment, the name of the payer, and the name of the competitor.
If a waitlist member receives a registration offer and fails to pay/arrange payment, they will be removed from the waitlist and notified.
No registration offers will be given after June 21, 2017.
Check-In (Required for ALL competitors)
On Sunday, June 25, all competitors MUST check in during the check-in period, as listed on the Schedule.
Failure to enter the line for check-in during this time period will result in withdrawal of registration without refund.
Competitors will receive a name badge, a schedule sheet, and a printout of their competing groups. (For more information on competing groups, see the "Groups" tab.)
Competitors who compete on Saturday will receive name badges and group info on Saturday. These competitors need not check in on Sunday.
On-Site Registration
If the competitor limit has not yet been reached at the time online registration closes, then prospective competitors are allowed to register on-site on Sunday for any combination of the following events: Rubik's Cube, 2x2x2 Cube (best of 1), 5x5x5 Cube, 6x6x6 Cube, Megaminx.
The registration cost for on-site registrants is $25.00, to be paid in cash at the competition.
On-site registration is open on a first-come, first-serve basis until the competitor limit is reached. On-site registrants will compete in the last group of each round.
Staff Member Registration
Competition staff members are hand-selected by the organisation team and will be offered registration free of charge in exchange for their service to the cubing community for the entire duration of the competition.
Time limit
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
Cutoff
The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).
