Competitor List

Registrants must pay the registration fee in order to be added to the competitor list. Unpaid registrations will not be accepted. Organizers manually accept registrations one at a time in the order the registration fees are paid, so your name may not appear on the competitor list immediately.

Once the competitor list reaches the 180 competitor limit, registrants who pay the registration fee will be added to the waiting list instead of the competitor list. Due to the competitor limit, completing your registration within the initial registration period does not guarantee you a spot on the competitor list.

Waiting List

The waiting list is ordered based on the timestamp that registrants paid the registration fee. If you are added to the waiting list you will be informed via an email. Additionally, you can ask about your position on the waiting list by emailing Speedcubing Canada.

If anyone on the competitor list deletes their registration, the person at the top of the waiting list will be moved to the competitor list. After May 23, 2024, the competitor list will be finalized and registrants who are still on the waiting list will be refunded 100% of their registration fee. Registrants on the waiting list may email Speedcubing Canada at any time to forfeit their spot on the waiting list and be refunded 100% of their registration fee.

If the competitor list fills up quickly, registration could close earlier than the originally listed date (May 23, 2024). The waiting list will close at the same time that registration closes.

Once you're in the building, you can take the stairs or elevator up to Forbes Hall (see Image 2 below). The check-in desk will be on the left side of the hallway.

Saturday vs. Sunday

You only need to attend the competition on the day(s) you are competing. For example, if you are competing in events held on Saturday, you do not need to attend on the Sunday unless you advance to the next round of an event.

Name Tag Pick-up

Competitors will be able to pick up their name tags at the check-in table on Saturday morning until approximately 11 AM, or at data entry table after 11 AM and on Sunday.

Wi-Fi

There is free public wi-fi in the building. The network is called "Waterloo Public Wifi" and there is no password.

The nearest food option is a small café inside the building.

There is a wider selection of food options at the food court in Conestoga Mall, which is a 7-minute drive from RIM Park.

Mystery Event

The mystery event will be an unofficial event taking place during the lunch break on Sunday. The event will be open to up to 16 competitors who can solve a 3x3x3 cube. Competitors will need to bring two 3x3x3 cubes to partipate in this event. The mystery will be revealed as the event is occurring.

Please find you groups and judging assignments here: https://www.competitiongroups.com/competitions/BattleofWaterloo2024. These "groups" are when you are assigned to compete, judge, and/or scramble during an event you are registered for.

Per Regulations 1e2 and 1f2, all competitors must be available to help judge and scramble. If you're unsure how to judge, please review the WCA Regulations, watch this video, or ask one of the WCA Delegates at the competition.

Please plan to arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before the start of your first group and be ready to compete five minutes before it is scheduled to begin. Showing up excessively late to your group may result in not being allowed to compete in that event.

When does the competition start? When should I arrive at the venue?

On Saturday, the check-in desk is open from 8:30 AM and 10:45 AM. If you are unable to make it to the competition before check-in period, that's okay because you can still check in at the data entry table when you arrive. Once you check in on Saturday, you will not need to check in again on Sunday.

Please aim to arrive 15 mintues before the start of your first event on each day. Please see the competition schedule and your personal schedule for full details.

This is my first competition! What should I expect?
