- As an additional form of preparation, you can watch Kit Clement's WCA Competitor Tutorial video.
- Please be familiar with all of the WCA regulations, most importantly Article A. If you have any questions about the regulations, please don't hesitate to reach out before the competition using the contact link on the General Info tab.
- In each event we will have rounds, and we will take the top competitors on to the subsequent rounds. After a round is completed, results will be entered into WCA Live. If your name is highlighted after all the results have been entered, then you have made it to the next round.
- Each round will be divided into groups to help the competition run more efficiently. We will call the groups in order. Please be familiar with which group you are in and bring your cube up when called. You may not be able to compete if you miss your group.
Lodging:
Elijah Clark State Park hosts a variety of cottages and campsites, which can be booked at this link. Beyond these lodging options, there are some independently operated inns in and around nearby small towns, but the nearest major hotels are in Thomson, GA and Greenwood, SC, both of which are about 30 miles away.
Airports:
The closest commercial airport to the competition is Augusta Regional, which is 1 hour away and has service from Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth, Washington National, and Atlanta. Other airports with more service options are Greenville-Spartanburg (2 hours away), Columbia Metropolitan (2 hours away), and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (2.5 hours away).
Dining:
There are some restaurants (mostly local, but some fast food) in Lincolnton, GA and McCormick, SC, both of which are about 10-15 minutes away from the park. You may want to pack a lunch to avoid having to leave the park, drive into town, and return.
Change in Venue(s) - NEW:
Due to a tree in the park falling on the originally intended venue (Group Shelter 1), the venue(s) for this competition have changed. The entire competition will still be taking place within Elijah Clark State Park in the same complex of buildings near the main park office, but the specific venue(s) will be different. Please take a look at the Reaching the Venue section below for further details on how to find the venue(s).
- Saturday, September 23 - Picnic Shelter 1
- Sunday, September 24 - Group Shelter 2
Please note that Picnic Shelter 1 is an outdoor venue (it has a roof, but no walls). Due to the limited space and tables/chairs at the picnic shelters, we strongly recommend to bring your own folding tables/chairs if you have any. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Group Shelter 2 (which will be used on Sunday) is still an indoor venue, just smaller than the one originally planned. Since fewer competitors are participating in the events on Sunday, we don't believe this will be a major issue.
Park Access:
Entering and parking at Elijah Clark State Park costs $5 per vehicle per day. If you live in Georgia, please check out the Free Parking Through Your Local Library tab for information about getting a free parking pass.
Reaching the Venue - UPDATED:
The venue for this competition is Picnic Shelter 1 (Saturday, September 23) and Group Shelter 2 (Sunday, September 24) within Elijah Clark State Park. Following directions to the listed address for the competition will bring you to the park entrance. To find the venue, follow the signs once you enter the park, and please note that if you reach the large campgrounds or the cabins in the park, you have gone too far and will need to turn around.
If you live in Georgia, you can check out a Georgia State Park ParkPass from your local library and avoid having to pay the standard $5/day parking fee in the park. Check out the Georgia State Parks website for more information: https://gastateparks.org/LibraryLoan
We have now determined the final list of staff for this competition and all applicants have been notified of their acceptance status. Thank you to all who applied!
