P: ¿Cómo me registro?
R: En primer lugar tienes que asegurarte de que tengas creada una cuenta de la WCA. Si no es así, se puede hacer de manera muy sencilla haciendo click en Registrarse y creándote una. Una vez hecho esto, vete a la pestaña Registro y sigue los pasos correspondientes.

P: ¿Por qué no aparezco en la lista de competidores?
R: Por favor, asegúrate de haber seguido todas las instrucciones de la pestaña Registro. También es posible que estés en la lista de espera. El limite de competidores puedes verlo en la página Información General y la lista de competidores en Competidores. Si crees haber hecho todo correctamente y aun así no apareces, ten paciencia. Los registros se aprueban de manera manual y los Delegados y organizadores no están disponibles en todo momento. Si tu registro no se ha aceptado pasados dos días, mándanos un correo.

P: ¿Puedo cambiar los eventos a los que me presento?
R: Sí, mientras el plazo de inscripción siga abierto. Contáctanos a través del correo de la organización y dinos qué categorías quieres cambiar. Si el registro ya se ha cerrado, por favor, no mandes ninguna petición de cambio de eventos. Si el dia de la competición decides no participar en alguna categoría simplemente ve a la mesa de mezclas cuando te toque competir y dile a uno de los Delegados que no te vas a presentar.

P: Ya no puedo asistir, ¿qué debo hacer?
R: Lo primero que tienes que hacer es informarnos vía email tan pronto como lo sepas para que otro competidor pueda ocupar tu lugar.

P: ¿Cómo de rápido tengo que ser para poder competir?
R: Te recomendamos que mires la tabla del Horario para informarte de los tiempos límite de cada prueba. La mayoría de gente va a las competiciones para conocer a gente con la que comparten esta afición sin importar los tiempos o sencillamente a tratar de mejorar sus propios tiempos personales, ¡todo el mundo es apto para competir y pasarlo bien!

P: ¿Hay categorías para diferentes edades?
R: Todos los competidores participan en las mismas condiciones y participantes de todas las edades son bienvenidos. La mayoría de gente suele tener unos 15-20 años, pero también hay gente más joven y más mayor.

P: ¿Tengo que usar mis propios cubos para competir?
R: ¡Sí! Asegúrate de traer puzzles para todos los eventos en los que compitas y no los pierdas de vista.

P: ¿Puedo ir simplemente como espectador?
R: Sí, además la entrada es completamente gratuita para los espectadores. Echa un vistazo al horario del campeonato para que puedas venir a ver los eventos que más te interesen o enterarte de cuando son las finales.

P: ¿Cuándo debo estar en el campeonato?
R: Recomendamos que te inscribas dentro de los plazos de inscripción que hay asignados en el horario. Si eres un nuevo competidor, te recomendamos encarecidamente que asistas al tutorial de competición que haremos el sábado a primera hora. Si no, está siempre al menos 15 minutos antes de que empiece la primera ronda en la que compitas.

P: ¿Qué debo hacer cuando llegue?
R: Lo primero que hay que hacer es ir a la mesa de registro para que te podamos dar los regalos de inscripción y la acreditación. Si no hay nadie en la mesa, busca a alguien con la camiseta de staff para que te atienda.

P: ¿Debo estar durante todo el campeonato?
R: Sólo es necesario que estés cuando tengas que competir o hacer de juez/runner/mezclador. Se te dará un papel en el registro con todos tus horarios, fuera de ese horario eres libre de irte a disfrutar de la ciudad y la gastronomía. Los grupos también serán publicados en la pestaña Grupos.

P: ¿Dónde miro los resultados y si paso a la siguiente ronda?
R: Los tiempos y clasificaciones de la competición se subirán a esta página unos días después de la competición y en directo en la web WCA Live.

Q: How do I register?
A: First you need to make sure you have created a WCA account. You can do this by going to the sign-up page and creating an account. Once you have created the account and confirmed your email address, go to the Register section and follow the instructions carefully.

Q: Why am I not on the registration list yet?
A: Please, make sure that you have followed the instructions in the Register section. You could also be on the waiting list. The competitor limit can be found on the General Info page, and you can see the number on accepted competitors on the Competitors page. If you have done everything correctly and the competition is not full then just be patient. We have to manually approve registrations and the organisers aren't available all the time. If you believe you have followed the steps correctly but still you are not on the registration list after two days, then feel free to email us.

Q: Can I change the events I am registered for?
A: As long as registration is still open, yes you are allowed to change events. Email us with the events you would like to change. If registration is closed then please do not email us with event changes. If at the competition you decide that you do not want to compete in an event, come up to the scramble table when your group is called and simply tell one of the delegates that you are not going to compete.

Q: I am no longer able to attend, what do I do?
A: The first thing you need to do is tell us as soon as you know via email. Competitions generally fill up quite quickly and letting us know that you can't attend means we can add someone from the waiting list.

Q: How fast do I have to be to compete?
A: We recommend that you check out the Schedule tab - if you can make the time limit for the events you want to compete in, then you're fast enough! Loads of people come to competitions just to beat their own personal bests, and meet like-minded people, with no intention of winning or even making it past the first round.

Q: Are there different age categories?
A: All competitors compete on the same level and all ages are welcome. In general most are aged 15-20, but we have plenty of regulars who are older or younger than this.

Q: Do I use my own cubes to compete?
A: Yes! Make sure to bring cubes for all events you are competing in and look after them, you don't want them to go missing.

Q: Can I come only to spectate?
A: Yes! Spectating this competition will be free for everyone. Take a look at the schedule to come to see the events you are more interested in or to know when the finals are happening.

Q: When do I arrive at the competition?
A: We recommend you to register on the time frames dedicated to that regard, which you can find on the Schedule tab. If you are a new competitor, we highly recommend that you show up for the introduction to competing which is held as the first thing on Saturday. Otherwise, we recommend you turn up at least 15 minutes before your first event.

Q: What do I do when I arrive?
A: The first thing you do when you arrive is find the registration desk if registration is open. If there is nobody present at the registration desk then find a staff member and we will make sure to register you.

Q: When can I leave the competition?
A: It's only necessary to stay when you have to compete or be a judge/runner/scrambler. You will be given a paper with all your schedules, outside of which you are free to go enjoy the city and the gastronomy.

Q: How do I find results?
A: All the results will be found on this page a couple of days after the competition, once they have all been checked and uploaded. Also on the website WCA Live.

Si esta es tu primera competición, ¡te damos la bienvenida! Si no lo es, ¡te agradecemos que te hayas pasado por esta pestaña! Aquí podrás encontrar información, instrucciones y consejos para afrontar con facilidad todo el proceso de inscripción y participación en el open.

¿Qué es una competición de speedcubing?

Una competición de speedcubing es un evento en el que entusiastas del cubo de todas partes del mundo se reúnen para poner a prueba sus habilidades de resolución de cubos en las diferentes categorías reconocidas por la World Cube Association (WCA). No hay límites de edad, clasificación o tiempos mínimos para apuntarse, ¡así que anímate a venir!

Me gusta lo que leo, ¿dónde hay que firmar?

Sigue estas instrucciones y todo irá bien:

1. Categorías: en primer lugar, revisa con cuidado las categorías que ofrece el open. Ten en cuenta que, aunque no hay que hacerse ningún tiempo mínimo para apuntarse, en algunas categorías hay cortes —tiempos que hay que batir para terminar la media— o tiempos límite —tiempos a partir de los cuales el juez debe parar la resolución— para que la ronda no se alargue innecesariamente. ¡Pero que esto no te desanimes! El lema aquí es: si sabes resolver el puzzle, puedes apuntarte a la categoría.
2. Cuenta de la WCA: una vez tengas claro a qué quieres apuntarte, tienes que crearte una cuenta de la WCA en este link y, por Don Ernő Rubik, no escribas tu nombre con faltas de ortografía o iconos raros.
3. Registro: a continuación, en la página Registrarse podrás escoger las categorías en las que quieres participar, así como indicar el número de acompañantes que irán contigo al open y escribir algún comentario, como la talla de camiseta —si así se pide en los requisitos encima de la cajita del registro— o un cumplido para el equipo organizador. A todos nos gusta recibir palabras bonitas de vez en cuando ;)
4. Pago: cuando pulses el botón verde para registrarte, te saltará la página de pago. El pago completo de la cuota es obligatorio para todos, sin excepciones, y tu registro no será aceptado hasta que lo hayas realizado. Sin embargo, los socios de la Asociación Española de Speedcubing (AES) reciben un 15% de descuento en la cuota al finalizar la competición. Si al leer "descuento" se te han puesto los ojos con el símbolo del dólar, pásate por la pestaña de la AES y entérate de las ventajas que ofrece hacerse socio.
5. ¡Listo! Ahora solo tienes que esperar a que tu registro sea aceptado para ponerte manos a la obra con el viajecito a Huelva.

Ten en cuenta que, cuando abre el periodo de registro, recibimos muchas inscripciones de golpe y tenemos que revisar con cuidado que los datos y el pago estén correctos. Iremos aceptando a los participantes poco a poco y en orden cronológico, así que ten paciencia. Si han pasado 48 horas, has realizado los pasos 1, 2, 3 y 4 adecuadamente y no has sido aceptado ni se ha llenado el aforo, escríbenos un correo y lo revisaremos enseguida. Aunque algunos organizadores vivimos en sótanos, a veces salimos a que nos dé la luz del sol y nos despistamos con el registro.

Tengo algunas dudas, ¿y si...?

Espera, espera. Según un estudio de la Universidad de la AES, el 99,99% de las dudas quedan satisfactoriamente respondidas en la pestaña de Preguntas más frecuentes. Si ni con estas te quedas a gusto, escríbenos al correo y te responderemos cuanto antes.

Preparación para la competición

Lo primero y más importante: ¡ven con una mentalidad abierta y positiva! Queremos que disfrutes esta experiencia al máximo, incluso si crees que te haces malos tiempos o que no merece la pena apuntarse solo para hacer 2x2. A lo largo del open ocurren muchos momentos divertidos y al final tendrá lugar un fantástico sorteo para participantes, por lo que merece mucho la pena apuntarse.

Ahora nos tenemos que poner serios... solo un poquito.

El speedcubing es un deporte como cualquier otro y para participar en una competición es obligatorio estar familiarizado con el Reglamento y las Directrices de la WCA. Por supuesto, no esperamos que en tu primera competición seas capaz de recitarlos de principio a fin. Para que esta lectura no se te haga muy pesada, puedes complementarla con este vídeo de nuestros compañeros de Speedcubing Argentina.

P.D.: recordad, nuevos competidores, que tenéis que llevar el DNI o un documento que acredite vuestra identidad el día de la competición.

What's a speedcubing open?

A speedcubing open is a meeting where cube enthusiasts from all around the world come together to test their cube-solving skills in the various events recognised by the World Cube Association (WCA). There are no age limits, rankings or minimum times to sign up, so feel free to join in!

I like what I'm reading, where do I sign on?

Follow these instructions and everything will go smoothly:

1. Events: first, carefully check the events offered at the open. Keep in mind that, while there is no time requirement to sign up, some events have cutoffs—times that must be beaten to end the average— or time limits —times after which the judge must stop the solve— to keep the round from dragging on unnecessarily. But don't let this discourage you! The motto here is: if you can solve the puzzle, you can sign up for the event.
2. WCA account: once you've decided what you want to participate in, you need to create a WCA account at this link. And, for the sake of Mr. Ernő Rubik, don't write your name with misspellings or strange icons.
3. Registration: next, on the Register page, you can select the events you want to participate in, indicate the number of guests who will join you at the open and write a comment, such as your T-shirt size—if it's requested in the registration requirements above the registration box—or a compliment for the organising team. We all like to receive kind words from time to time ;)
4. Payment: when you click the green button to register, you'll be directed to the payment page. Full payment of the fee is mandatory for everyone, without exceptions, and your registration won't be accepted until you've completed it. However, members of the Spanish Speedcubing Association (AES) receive a 15% discount on the fee when the competition finishes. If reading "discount" has made your eyes light up with dollar signs, head over to the AES tab and find out about the benefits of becoming a member.
5. Done! Now, all you have to do is wait for your registration to be accepted so you can get ready for your trip to Huelva.

Please note that when the registration period opens, we receive a lot of requests all at once and we need to carefully review that the information and payment are correct. We will be accepting participants gradually and in chronological order, so please be patient. If you've waited 48 hours, you've completed steps 1, 2, 3, and 4 correctly and you haven't been accepted or the competitor limit isn't full, please write us an email and we'll check it immediately. Although some of us live in basements, we sometimes get out into the sunlight and may get distracted with registrations.

I have some questions, what if...?

Hold on, hold on. According to a study conducted by the University of the AES, 99.99% of questions are satisfactorily answered in the Frequently asked questions tab. If you're still not satisfied with these answers, write us an email and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Preparation for the open

First and foremost: come with an open and positive attitude! We want you to enjoy this experience to the fullest, even if you think your times aren't great or if you don't think it's worth participating in just 2x2. Throughout the competition many fun moments will occur and there will be a fantastic giveaway for participants at the end, so it's well worth signing up.

Now, we need to get a little serious... just a bit.

Speedcubing is a sport like any other and it's mandatory to be familiar with the WCA Regulations and Guidelines to participate in a competition. Of course, we don't expect you to recite them from beginning to end at your first event. To make this reading less tiresome, you can complement it with this video.

P.S.: remember, newcomers, you must bring your ID or any other document that proves your identity on the day of the competition.
