SPECTATORS

Competitors are welcome to bring up to two spectators with them.

VOLUNTEERING

Please note that all competitors are required to assist with volunteering during the competition - either in the role of "runner", "judge" or "scrambler". These roles will be explained as part of the "New Competitor Tutorial", but you can take a look at this video.

If any parents are willing to help judge or run, please watch the above video if you have not been a judge/runner at previous competitions. We greatly appreciate all assistance during the competition and more volunteers helping out during the competition helps to stay on schedule and not run behind.

SPONSORSHIP

A big thanks to Cubestuff who are sponsoring the prizes for this competition. They will have a stall set up at the venue for you to buy the different speedcubes they have on offer.
You can also go to Cubestuff.co.za to order a variety of cubes and equipment online.

NOTICE OF FILMING:

Please note that there will be filming and photography at this event. You therefore consent to your image being used by CubingZA and its partners in their marketing and social media platforms by attending.

VENUE

Oppi Dak is situated inside the Gateway Corner Centre. It is located on the first floor right above Liquor City and can be accessed via the stairs or the lift.
The venue will provide a variety of food, snacks and drinks on both days and also offer card and cash payment options.
On Sunday they also serve a separate Buffet Lunch which you are more than welcome to take part in.
Bathroom facilities are available inside the venue, and the Centre itself also provides alternative bathrooms outside of the venue itself.

If you're a first-time competitior, we would love to have you! It doesn't matter how quickly you can solve the cube - everyone is there to have fun, make new friends, and do their best. If you're on the fence about going, take a look at this video giving a bit of insight into what a cube competition is like.

This competition runs over two days but you don't need to attend both days. Have a look on the schedule to see when the different events are happening so you can decide what days you should attend. For example, if you're only competing in skewb, you only need to come on Sunday. Make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before Registration ends on the first day you'll be competing. This helps us with entering everyone into the system and ensures that you're on time for the "Tutorial for new competitors". As a first-time competitor, you don't want to miss this as we'll be going over all the details of how to participate in this competition.

You can also watch this tutorial video beforehand on how you'll complete your solves.

We will also be sending out a pre-competition email before the competition with some more information so keep an eye out for that.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the delegates and organiser - we would be happy to help!

Do I need to be at both days if I am only competing on one day?

No, you only have to be there on the day that you are competing. Make sure to check out the schedule tab to see when you compete. We suggest arriving at the competition at least 30 minutes prior to your event in case we run ahead of schedule.

Where can I view my results?

On the competition days all results will be uploaded to WCA Live. Just search for the competition name under the "upcoming" tab. After the competition has ended, it will take a few days for the official results to be uploaded to the WCA main site.

How can I stay up to date on future competitions?

Below are a few options for getting notified of future competitions:

  1. Register an account on CubingZA. Once you are logged in, you will be able to set notifications for competitions in your preferred provinces. You should receive email notifications for new competitions in these regions.
