Payment:
Upon registering you will receive an email stating “Registration Pending: Cubing at The Game Expo 2024”. This does NOT mean that you are on the registration list. Competitors will not be approved until payment has been made.
Please ensure you have paid the registration fees via Stripe on the register page. Your registration is not complete and will not be processed until you have paid the $10 registration fee. Contact the organisational team if you encounter an issue.
Waiting List:
- Once the competitor limit of 100 has filled, the waiting list will be opened.
- You must pay the $10.00 registration fee to be added to the waiting list.
- New registrations will be added to a waitlist and sorted in the order of payment.
- Waitlisted competitors will only be added to the competition if an existing competitors withdraws.
- All competitors still on the waiting list after Saturday March 16th, 11:59PM will be removed and provided with a full refund.
- You may enquire about your position on the waiting list by contacting the organisational team.
Deleting Registration/Refunds:
- If you can no longer make the competition you may request a refund.
- To receive a full refund you must contact the organisational team by Saturday March 16th, 11:59PM .
- Withdrawing enables us to maximise attendance and for competitors on the waiting list to attend.
You may change the events you are registered on the Register tab by Saturday March 16th, 11:59PM After this date it is not possible to add further events. It is also acceptable to not show up for any event you do not wish to compete in.

You can find an individual schedule here. Each competitor will be provided with a printed copy of their invididual group assignments at registration. As this is a major competition, we cannot adjust groups. Please arrive on time to your assigned groups.
Throughout the competition we will also need judges, runners and scramblers. All competitiors will need to do some judging at the bare minimum. In any event in which you compete, you are expected to assist with judging. If you don't know how to help please come and ask, there is almost always something for you to do.

The Game Expo is a yearly convention in Melbourne that features all things gaming. The convention features loads of esports tournaments for a variety of games, as well as tabletop games. More features include artist zones, many special guests and PC LAN gaming! There are lots of different contests going on at all times, as well as lots of activities to keep yourself occupied for the day. You can find out more information here.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What are the requirements for this competition?
To compete you only need to know how to solve the cube! Please check the events tab for information in time limits for each event.
In order to enter the venue, you are REQUIRED to have a ticket for The Game Expo on the Saturday. This will need to be verified with the delegates in order for your registration to be approved. See more in the important information section.
Q. How can I change my events?
You must make any change to your registered events by March 16th. You can change your events via the competition registration page.
Q. What time should I arrive at the competition?
You should arrive for Check-in from 10:30AM. You should always be at the venue ready to compete 30 minutes before you are scheduled. Sometimes we run ahead and if you are not available for your group you most likely will not be permitted to join a later group. Please note the schedule is subject to change on the day.
Q. I have never been to a competition before, is this a good competition for me?
YES! All of our competitions cater for newcomers. There is a new competitor tutorial and plenty of friendly delegates to help you understand what you need to do. Watch these tutorial videos to understand what a competition looks like and what is expected of you
Q. How old do I have to be to compete?
Anyone can compete at any age! We encourage anyone considering to compete to register as it will be a great experience regardless of age.
Q. Do children need to have adult supervision?
YES. Adult supervision of children is required at ALL times. The WCA Delegates and Organisers are very busy running the competition and cannot be responsible for supervising children.
Q. How can I prepare before the competition day?
Before attending you should have read and understood the WCA regulations and watched our tutorial videos. You may also like to watch this helpful video that will show you what to expect.
Q. What do I need to bring?
You need to bring a puzzle for each event you are signed up to compete in - make sure they are allowed per the WCA regulations. We also recommend you bring a water bottle. Many competitors also bring a 'warm up cube' to use between submitting their puzzle for scrambling and starting their official solve. All timing equipment is provided by Speedcubing Australia.
Q. How do I find out if I've progressed to the second round?
Times will be uploaded through the day onto WCA Live. Please allow up to an hour from finishing your solves to them being uploaded. After all the times of a round has been entered, you can see if you are in the following round.
Q. Who can I ask for help on the day?
There will be several WCA Delegates wearing red polo shirts, feel free to ask them any questions you may have on the day.
Q. Can I help on the day?
Of course! Throughout the day we will need judges and runners so please see our Delegates to ask how you can best assist. If you would like to learn how to judge - here is a helpful video.

Q: How do I get a WCA ID?
After official results are posted after the competitions you will receive an email with information on your WCA ID.
Q: I lost a puzzle at the competition, what should I do?
There are hundreds of puzzles at these events, make sure to keep yours together so you don't lose them! Keeping them in a bag and looking after it at all times is recommended. If you do lose a puzzle (or anything else), please speak to us at the event or contact the organisational team, it is possible someone has handed it in to us.

This competition takes place in the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.
By car
The competition venue is located at 1 Convention Centre Pl, South Wharf VIC 3006. There is lots of parking available at the DFO South Wharf (next to the venue), which can be accessed through Convention Centre Place, next to Lorimer Street.
By Train
Flinders Street Station is a 15 minute walk from the venue.
By Tram
Tram lines 12, 96 & 109 stop outside of the venue.
Live Results
Live results will be provided via WCALive. It may take up to an hour between times being set and them appearing online.

Time limit
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
Cutoff
The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).
Format
The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
