First-Time Competitors

• Familiarize yourself with the WCA Regulations before the competition. Watching a competitor tutorial video before the competition can help you become familiar with the key procedures of competing and the relevant regulations, but the full regulations always apply - even those not mentioned in a tutorial.
• Bring documentation showing your name and birthdate and present it during the check-in period (8:00am-8:40am) to verify the information on your WCA account. Due to the age of the average competitor, a birth certificate is generally the most common document suiting this need, but a drivers license or passport will work perfectly too (as long as it is for the competitor themselves and not a parent/guardian). If you have any concerns about this, please reach out ASAP ahead of the competition.
• Attend the new competitor tutorial at 8:40am. Even if you have read the Regulations and watched an online tutorial, attending the in-person tutorial will help familiarize you with the specific procedures and expectations for this competition, and it's also your chance to ask questions if anything is still puzzling you before you actually compete.

All Competitors

• Reach out at least two weeks before the competition if you need accommodations. If there is any circumstance (e.g. disability) that would prevent you from competing normally. reaching out ahead of the competition will give the organizers and WCA Delegates time to best accommodate your unique needs.
• Be present at least 15 minutes early for any round you are competing in. If the competition gets ahead of schedule, it will stay ahead of schedule, and you may not be able to compete if you miss your scheduled group (especially for subsequent rounds).
• Fulfill all judging assignments throughout the day. In addition to the groups you are assigned to compete in, you will also be scheduled to judge in certain groups throughout the day. Your judging assignments will usually come immediately after you compete or far enough before you compete to give you time to warm up. If you repeatedly miss your judging assignments, you may be subject to disqualification from the competition - the WCA is a volunteer-driven organization, so everyone is expected to help out at least as much they compete.
• Let the organizers know if you are leaving before your last round. If you need to skip a round that you advanced to, letting the organizers know ahead of time will allow someone else to take your place in the round.

Venue

This competition takes place in the Turner Gymnasium building of The Westminster Schools (1424 W Paces Ferry Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30327). The street address applies to the campus as a whole and not this specific building, but the building does have a listing on Google Maps (linked above) that can be used as a destination to navigate. Ample free parking is available across campus both at the Turner Gymnasium building and in other lots, and Atlanta's Route 12 local bus runs past the campus every 30 minutes on Saturdays.

Please note that the campus has two entrances - one on West Paces Ferry and one on West Wesley - and both are not guaranteed to be open on weekends. Be prepared to enter through either, regardless of your navigation app's directions.

Dining

There are a few fast food restaurants just outside the West Paces Ferry campus entrance near the highway.

Lodging

There are not any hotels in the immediate vicinity of the venue, but there are plenty across the wider Atlanta area.

Intercity Travel

Atlanta has the following options for intercity arrivals, in addition to driving:

• The Atlanta airport is the busiest in the world, with nonstop service to destinations across the entire country and around the globe. Rental cars are available for local travel, and direct trains are available from the airport to the Midtown MARTA station where the Route 12 local bus route to the venue begins.
• The Atlanta train station is served by Amtrak's Crescent route, connecting Atlanta with other major cities across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic between New York and New Orleans. The Midtown MARTA station is about a 1.5 mile walk from the Amtrak station.
• The Atlanta bus station is served by intercity Greyhound buses, connecting Atlanta with other major cities across the Eastern United States. The station is directly next door to the Garnett MARTA station, providing a connection to the MARTA network of trains and buses.

As an all-volunteer organization, Southeast Cubing relies on your help to keep our competitions running! We are recruiting talented and hard-working staff for this competition to carry out scrambling and running, along with any other necessary competition tasks at the direction of the organizers/WCA Delegates. In exchange for this hard work, all staff will receive snacks and lunch during the competition and a refund of the registration fee after the competition.

Please note that all competition staff are expected to comply with the Southeast Cubing Code of Conduct for Competition Volunteers, and all applicants must agree to its terms in order to be considered for a staff role. Failure to act in accordance with these expectations may result in revocation of benefits and/or the inability to serve as competition staff again in the future.

SECI Competition Support

This competition is officially supported by SECI through the organization's Supported Competitions Policy, meaning that SECI takes on the overall financial and legal responsibility for the competition by collecting registration fees, paying competition expenses and signing contracts. In return for this support, SECI retains any leftover competition funds to put towards all the important activities listed above that support the organization's nonprofit mission!
