There is a 100 competitor limit, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Registration is $25, must be paid online via Stripe, and is nonrefundable after Monday, July 9, 2018, 12:00 AM CDT. Spectators come in for free. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to allow people to pay in cash at the door. Registration is not final until payment is complete and your name appears on the competitor list.

There is NO AT-THE-DOOR REGISTRATION, NO EXCEPTIONS.
This competition is recognized as an official World Cube Association competition. Therefore, all competitors should be familiar with the WCA regulations. If you are new to competing, you may want to look at CubingUSA's Competitor Tutorial.

New Competitors

• Please try to arrive early to watch the new competitor introduction at 8:40 AM.
• Please bring some form of identification. This will be used to verify your name, birthday, and nationality. (something like a passport or school ID).
• Please be familiar with all of WCA's regulations, most importantly Article A (https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/regulations/#article-A-speedsolving). If you have any questions about the regulations, feel free to ask us.

• In each event we will have rounds. We will take the top competitors on to the subsequent rounds. After a round is completed results will be entered into CubeComps (linked above). Your name will be highlighted if you made it to the next round.
• Each round will be divided into groups to help them run more efficiently. We will call the groups in order, along with a last call. Please come bring your puzzle up and wait in the competitor waiting area whenever your group is called. We are allowed to deny you the ability to compete if you do not come up by the last call.

All Competitors

• Shortly following the new competitor introduction at 8:40 AM, we will also hold a judging tutorial. All competitors should attend this tutorial. If you are a parent and would like to be entertained for the duration of the day, judging would be a great option for you!
• Please try to arrive at least 30 minutes early for the events you are competing in to ensure that you are on time for that event.
• It would be wonderful if we could get some volunteer help from the parents. This would require either being present at the judging tutorial or to have someone teach you how to judge later in the day. Judge for however long you'd feel like. It's an excellent way to make the time fly by!

Format - Ao5 = Average of 5 (where the best and worst solves are not counted in the average), Mo3 = Mean of 3, Bo1 = Best of 1, Bo2 = Best of 2, Bo3 = Best of 3
Cutoff - Rounds with a cutoff will have an additional best of 2 (best of 1 for 6x6 and 7x7) format where competitors will have 2 attempts to achieve a time under the cutoff. If the competitor does then they will be awarded more attempts to complete the average.
Cumulative Limit (C) - The total time allowed for all attempts combined.
Time Limit - Any attempt in the round exceeding this time will be awarded a DNF. For "WCA" time limits, it is dependent on the regulations for that event.
The Number of Competitors moving on to the subsequent rounds may change based on if the competition is ahead or behind schedule.

All times are tentative and subject to change if we are ahead or behind schedule.
5x5 finals may be added if the competition runs ahead of schedule.

For those of you new to cubing, WELCOME!

We wanted to let you know this event is perfectly fine for cubers of any age and experience. We just ask you know a couple things before coming to compete...

First, please be familiar with the WCA Regulations, found here:

Of course, those regulations contain a lot of legalese, so we have a video made specifically for new cubers, just to show them the basics of competing. This video will explain most of what any cuber competing for the first time will need to know.

If you have any questions after this video, we will be having a new competitor tutorial, Saturday morning of the competition. That would be the perfect time to ask those questions and clear up any confusion.

FAQ
Q: Do I use my own cube to compete?
A: YES! You are responsible for your own hardware in order to compete, however, we will have a vendor at this competition, from which you can buy puzzles if your current ones have seen better days.

Q: What is the normal age of competitors at these events?
A: All ages are welcome, but in general competitors are between 10 and 20 years old. Don't let this stop you though, everyone can and should cube!

Q: What is the competition like?
A; Competitions are a bunch of tables where nerds like us get to sit and discuss our favorite thing, Cubes! Of course in addition there is competing, which will occupy one side of the competition hall, where you will see lots of timers flickering with contestants new personal bests, and a vendor, where you can purchase all you cubing related needs. Most competitions have a break for lunch, and the competing is split up into heats, as to better organize who competes when. (Check the Groups tab and listen at the competition for more info on this.)

Q: How do I find results?
A: All results are posted on the WCA page a couple of days after the competition finishes. However, for the day of competing, go to Cubecomps.com to find information about current events. This is also where you will find information about 2nd and 3rd rounds of events.

Q: Why am I not on the registration list yet?
A: Make sure you pay you entrance fee in order to be automatically placed on the registered list, which will also guarantee you a spot in the competition. If payment may be any issue, or you are not sure if you can attend, use the contact button to talk to us, and see if we can work out another payment strategy, or have you pay on arrival at the compeition. No matter what you situation may be however, please register online. It is much easier for us to have you register now and pay later, then to have to input information at another time.

Q: Are there age divisions?
A: Nope! All cometitors compete in the same group.

Q: Can I have fun at this event?
A: HECK YES! Cubing is amazing, and we sincerely hope you enjoy the competition!

Judge
According to WCA rule 1e2), every competitor must be available for judging. When we announce the group information, we'll also add judge information (which group you'll be judging) as well.

Scorecard (Snapshot)

Every scorecard includes following information:

1) Event, Round, Group, Name: Please make sure all the information is correct. If not, please tell judges or delegates to correct information.

2) There are 5 columns for judges and competitors to fill in.
2-1) Display time: Times shown in the display or stackmat. Judges must write down display times in any circumstance (even though the attempt is a DNF).
2-2) Penalty: Accumalated penalties. There are total of 8 penalties, adding up to 16 seconds penalty. More details can be found in this link.
2-3) Finaly time: The final time of each attempt. If no penalties, you don't need to write down. If there are penalties, please add all the pentalties to the display time and write down the final number.
2-4) Judge: Initial of the judge
2-5) Comp: Initial of the competitor
Please note that the competitor is responsible for the time in the scorecard. Please make sure everyinformation if correct before you sign your initial.** If initials are missing (either one of them), the attempt will be considered as "DNF".** Please refer to WCA rules - A7c

3) Scorecard format varies by the type of format of each event.
3-1) 333, 444, 555 & Pyraminx are events calculating average out of 5 attempts (called "ao5"). For these events, first two attempt are automatically given to every competitor for the first round. If you record times faster than "cutoff" limit, you're allowed to continue to solve 3~5 attempts. If not, no more attempts will be given.
3-2) 666 & 777 are events calculating mean of 3 attempts (called "mo3"). For these events, the first attempt is given. Once you record times faster than "cutoff" limit, you're allowed to continue to solve 2 & 3 attempts. If not, no more attempts will be given.
3-3) 333 Blindfolded is a event calculating the best out of 3 attemps (called "bo3"). For this event and for this competition, there is no cutoff but the total time limit of 10 minutes. Each competitor has total of 10 minutes to finish all 3 attempts. Even though you make a DNF, the judge is supposed to write down the display time to calculate accumative time of total attempt. All attempts over the 10 minute time will be recorded as DNF.
