Traveling by train: There are numerous Amtrak trains per day from New York Penn Station to Albany-Rensselaer, which is then a short drive across the Hudson River from downtown Albany.

Airport: Albany International Airport (ALB) is roughly 10 miles away from downtown Albany.

Parking: The closest parking available is the convention center's own garage; the entrance is on Wendell Street. The MVP Arena garage is also right next door. Additionally, downtown Albany has free street parking every weekend.

Hotels: The Renaissance Albany Hotel is connected by skybridge to the venue. Other hotels in downtown Albany include the Hilton Albany, Fairfield Inn and Suites Albany Downtown, and Hampton Inn and Suites Albany Downtown. There are also numerous hotels closer to the airport.

Food: Concession stands will be provided by the venue, as outside food is not permitted. While there are many options in downtown Albany, most of them are sit-down restaurants. More fast food options are available closer to the airport (15-20 minutes away), in particular near Colonie Center and Latham Crossing.

Cumulative Time Limit Checker

  • This competition will be divided into 3 groups of 12 competitors. Groups will last approximately 2.5 hours each. Competitors must help judge/scramble for the groups in which they're not solving.
  • There is a 35 minute cumulative time limit for each competitor to complete as many solves/events as possible. Times for any DNFs must be recorded in parentheses.
  • Competitors may do the events in any order they wish. Once they've started an event, they must complete all solves for that event or DNS the remaining solves before moving on to a different event.
  • If you are expecting a result over 8 minutes, please inform the Delegate/Judge. This will allow us to properly use a stopwatch to time the attempt in addition to the stackmat timer, so that if you exceed 10 minutes the time can be accurately taken from the stopwatch.
  • We will not be asking everyone to keep quiet for 3x3 Blindfolded. Those attempts will be done in a "noisy" room.

Registration Process

Before You Register

All prospective registrants need a WCA account. New competitors can create their own WCA account by clicking here and entering the required information.

How to Register Online

Prospective competitors register by:
1. Signing into their WCA account;
2. Clicking "Register" on the left side of this webpage, selecting the events they would like to compete in, and submitting their registration;
3. Paying the registration fee of $40.00. (The registration fee is the same regardless of how many events are selected.) Your registration is not complete until you have paid the registration fee.

The competitor limit for this competition is 36. The list of approved competitors can be found by clicking "Competitors" on the left side of this webpage. If there are already 36 competitors on that list, it means the competition is full, and any future registrants will be placed on the waitlist.

Competitors MUST register and pay online in order to compete. No at-the-door registrations or payments will be accepted.

Any requested changes to registration before 11:59 PM EDT on Saturday, April 20 will be honored. Your registration is not complete until your name shows up on the list.

How to Pay for Registration Online

Payment is processed through Stripe. Click on the "Register" tab on the left side of the webpage to register and pay all in one place! You can start the payment process by clicking "Pay your fees with card."

Refunds

Approved competitors who cancel their registration before 11:59 PM EDT on Saturday, April 20 are eligible for a refund for half (50%) of their registration cost. After this date, no refund requests will be honored. Attempting to file a chargeback for the registration fee will lead to being blacklisted from future WCA events.

Waitlist Information

We will be keeping a waitlist for this competition. To secure a place on the waitlist once 36 competitors have paid, simply pay the registration fee. If a competitor emails us to drop out before 11:59 PM EDT on Saturday, April 20, you will be notified if you are the next competitor on the waitlist. After that deadline, all remaining competitors on the waitlist will be emailed letting them know they did not get off the waitlist and will be fully refunded.
