- Information
You’ve asked. We’ve said yes! Speedcubing is AGAIN coming to the township of Langley! Similar to last year, we look forward to a full house of 90 competitive cubers, this time on SATURDAY MAY 4th, 2019.
The lunch and snack concession is back and CAD or USD CASH is required at the competition for those wishing to eat on site here.
Calling for your volunteer help. Those previously experienced as scramblers, judges and runners willing to gift some of their time are asked to e-mail Lindy to say that of course you're in!
Volunteering is fun, engages you fully in the day and, with plenty of help, keeps the competition events moving along in a timely manner. A judging tutorial will be provided just prior to the start of the day.
Anyone who volunteers- yes, parents, too- are eligible to put their name in our draw for little thank you prizes!
See you all there and we appreciate you emailing in to volunteer a portion of your day.

Newcomers to Cubing Competitions
For those of you new to cubing- WELCOME!
We wanted to let you know this event is fine for cubers of any age and experience. We just ask you know a couple things before coming to compete...
First, please be familiar with the WCA Regulations, found here:
https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/regulations/
Of course, those regulations contain a lot of legalese, so we have a video made specifically for new cubers, just to show them the basics of competing. This video will explain most of what any cuber competing for the first time will need to know.

FAQs
Q: Do I use my own cubes to compete?
A: YES! You are responsible for your own hardware in order to compete and to be similarly responsible for its whereabouts at the busy competition venue.
Q: What is the competition like?
A; Competitions like this one have a bunch of tables where cubers like us get to sit, discuss and practice our favorite thing: cubes! The actual competing with timers, mats and displays is on one side of the gym with a cash only concession area for snacks and lunch items on the other. The competing is split up into heats, so as to better organize who competes when. Specific cube events and their aimed for start times will be posted, but you will also need to listen for when your event and heat is called.
Q: How do I find results?
A: All results are posted on the WCA page a couple of days after the competition finishes. However, for the day of competing, go to cubecomps.com to find information about current events. This is also where you will find information about 2nd and 3rd rounds of events.
Q: Are there age divisions?
A: Nope! All competitors compete in the same group.
Q: Can I have fun at this event?
A: ABSOLUTELY YES! Cubing is amazing, and we sincerely hope you enjoy the competition!
Q: And my guests? What will they do?
A: They will cheer you on, be your moral support and help with your photos and filming. Guests are expected to give priority round table seating to cubers. There will areas of seating for guests in the gym and additional seating in the adjacent foyer. There is a park right beside the church gym for fresh air breaks and an easy 5-10 minute northbound stroll down Glover Road takes guests to local eateries, galleries and shops to break up a long day of competing.
