Information
  • Make sure to be available at the venue at least 15 minutes before your event starts. Late entries won't be allowed to participate.
  • Attend the tutorial session if you're new to WCA competitions or unfamiliar with its rules.
  • Bring a government ID card for verification if it's your first time participating in a WCA competition.
  • Participants are expected to volunteer and will be assigned with roles as judges, scramblers, or runners, with the exception of newcomers.

Registration for the event will only be accepted if a person has pre-registered on the WCA competition page AND made the payment.

For those of you new to WCA Competitions, WELCOME!

We wanted to let you know this event is perfectly fine for cubers of ANY age and experience. We just ask you know a couple things before coming to compete...

First, please be familiar with the WCA Regulations, found here:

FAQs

Q: Do I use my own cube to compete?
A: YES! You are responsible for your own hardware in order to compete. This means you should bring your own cube.

Q: What is the normal age of competitors at these events?
A: All ages are welcome, but in general competitors are between 10 and 20 years old. Don't let this stop you though, everyone can and should cube!

Q: How do I find results?
A: All results are posted on the WCA page within a week after the competition finishes. However, for the day of competing, go to https://live.worldcubeassociation.org/ to find information about current events. This is also where you will find information about upcoming rounds of events. Remember, the results are entered by a human so please be patient if you do not see your results immediately.

Q: Are there age divisions?
A: Nope! All competitors compete together.

Q: I want to attend, or I have friends/family who want to attend, but not compete. Do they need to pay as well?
A: No. All spectators are free to view the competition at no cost. There is payment only to compete. Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, we request all of you to keep the number of guests to a minimum or not bring anyone along.

Q: Can I have fun at this event?
A: YES! Cubing is amazing, and we sincerely hope you enjoy the competition!

Food can be bought from various shops/dhabas inside and outside the institute. Also, food can be ordered from Zomato.

Take the local train to Kalyani (KYI) station. Then, take a bus/auto to 'Gate number 7'. They will drop you at Gate Number 7, IISER Kolkata.

Go to the gate and go over the small bridge which will be on the right. Keep walking until you reach a huge building with glass walls. This is the Main Auditorium. Just to the left of the auditorium will be building with the sign 'PC Ray Lecture Hall Complex' written. Take the road just to the left of this building and keep walking. Take the first left, then the first right, then the first right again. After walking a few metres, you should see a door to your left. Enter it, the venue is to the right side.

If you face any problems, ask any passerby/guards for directions to the venue.

Live results of the competition will be available on WCA Live during and after the competition. This page will be updated as the competition draws closer.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
