IMPORTANT !!!
- WCA requires official identification for new registrations. This means passport, driver's licence or other official ID. Note: Payment cards are not official ID!
First of all; welcome! There are new competitors in every competition and the community is constantly growing. We are all connected through a common interest which makes making friends easy since there's always something to talk about!
So you could say that's my first advice to you. Try to get to know the other competitors, you won't regret it! However there are also a few things worth knowing regarding the competition itself.
I recommend paying good attention to the Tutorial demonstration which starts at 8:50 in the morning. After the Tutorial you will have an opportunity to try out the timer stations we'll be using. You can always come to us, the organizers should you have any questions. Competitions like this might seem confusing at first —especially all the rules— but in practise competing is quite straight-forward. We follow the WCA Regulations which provide fairness and encourage good sportmanship. However the WCA Regulations are a daunting read for a beginner but fortunately there's an official Competition Guide wich includes a summary of the most important rules as well as useful information for first-time competitors. You can find the guide here: WCA Competition Tutorial
There are some good tutorials on YouTube for first-time competitors. I reccomend this one: WCA Competitor Tutorial
There will be printed copies of the Competition Guide an WCA Regulations at the venue and again; if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask!
Screenshot from the Competition Guide.
All competitors must have read the WCA Regulations.
We will have a quick run down before the first event, and explain how to compete and judge. There will be a demonstration by some of our most experienced cubers. You can find out when this will happen in the schedule tab.
New competitors must bring a valid identification card, to confirm their identity at the competition. A passport is good example since it shows your date of birth, and country of representation.
You are expected to help during the competition. For each event you participate in, you will then need to judge at least one other group in the same event. If you see an empty spot for a judge at a solving station, please take it! This helps the competition run a lot smoother!
No flash photography in the entire venue! Flash is distracting to the competitors. However pictures without the use of flash are allowed.
You are allowed to film your official attempt, as long as the camera's screen is either off or is out of sight.
All spectators must remain at least 1,5 meters away from every solving station.
When a round is in progress, then all competitors in the current group must wait in the competitor waiting area, until they get called up to solve.
You are not allowed to talk about the scrambles until the round is done! Otherwise, you might get disqualified.
You only need to be present, when you have to compete, in the events you are registered for! We recommend that you are present half an hour to an hour before your first event, since the schedule might change. If you can only be present one of the days, then you can only compete in the events on the given date..
When we approach the competition date, you will receive an email. It will contain some changes that might have happened. It will also contain more ‘up to date’ information, which you might need.
Live results at the competition will be available via WCA Live.

Unfortunately there won't be prizes for this competition. At the end of the competition we will give printed podium certificates to the top 3 places in each event.
Time limit
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
Cutoff
The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).
Format
The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
