Welcome to Kjeller Open 2017 November 4th - 5th
Welcome too the third edition of Kjeller Open at Kjeller school in Kjeller - Norway.
All who knows how to solve the cube are most welcome to compete!

Fees
There are no fees for competing in Kjeller Open.
To all Norwegians: Alle norske deltakere oppfordres til å melde seg inn i Kubeforbundet. Det koster kr 50,-/år. Innmelding kan gjøres ved å sende en e-post med ditt fulle navn, fødselsdato, mobil-/telefonnummer og adresse.

Rules and regulations
We are using the official rules and regulations from WCA. If you are new to Rubiks competitions, please have a look through the rules here.

Kiosk
There will be a kiosk available on site to buy some drinks, food, fruits and snacks. We do not take credit cards, so bring along some NOKs (cash). We also accept payments by the Vipps app from DNB.

Competitors will get free lunch in form of some bread, butter and jam in the kiosk area during the announced lunch-breaks.

OBS!!
Some pupils attending Kjeller school has extreme allergy toward nuts so **nothing containing nuts are allowed on the premises* !

Cutoffs
In events with “average of 5" (333, 222, OH, 444, pyraminx, skewb), one of the 2 first solves must be better than the cutoff time for the competitor to do the rest of the solves. The cutoff solves are marked with a line on the score-sheet.
Events with “mean of 3" (feet) the cutoff is applied to the first solve.
Blindfolded events are "best of 3" (BLD, Team BLD). In BLD there is a 10 minute limit for each solve and combined cutoff of 20 minutes. That means that if you use more than half the time available (10mins +) on the first solve you will be cutoff since the combined time is estimated to be above 20 minutes.

To be 12 in a final there must be at least 21 competitors in the first round (if there are 2 rounds).

Transportation
From Oslo to Lillestrøm:
Jump on any lines going east (preferably with first stop Lillestrøm); R10 Lillehammer, L12 Eidsvoll, L13 Dal, L14 Kongsvinger. Se more info at NSB.no or #Ruter / ruter.no
From Oslo Airport / Gardermoen to Lillestrøm:
All trains going towards Oslo stops in Lillestrøm (R10, L12, L13, etc). The local trains uses a few minutes more than the Airport-train, but is a lot cheaper :-)

Lillestrøm to Kjeller school:
Bus “401 Kjeller” or “842 Skedsmokorset” from Lillestrøm terminal to the stop called "Kjeller" (se stoppested i kart).
The 401-bus departs from a platform outside the teminal building.

Walking from Lillestrøm to Kjeller takes about half an hour.

Det er ikke mulig å overnatte i lokalet, men det er flere steder å overnatte i Lillestrøm eller Oslo. Her er tre forslag til hotell med enkleste kollektivtransport til Kjeller skole.

Accomodation
It is not possible to sleep over on the venue, but there are several hotels in Lillestrøm. The train from Oslo is just 10 minutes, so staying in the center of Oslo is not a problem either!

We are hosting special events on both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday: Team Blind
To be in the team blind you need to register by email to ulrik@bredland.no and state who you are teaming up with - or if you seek a partner.

A team
A team are 2 persons that takes turns looking at the cube and telling the moves and solving the cube blindfolded.
The non-blindfolded gets 15. seconds inspection time before the timer has to be started.
The blindfolded must hold the cube.

Each team get 6 solves (3 solves for each team member)
The score is average 6 - with the best and worst solve removed.

Sunday: Speed FMC
This is a head-to-head knockout competition.
To be in the speed FMC you need to register by email to ulrik@bredland.no.

how it works
2 competitors get inital 3 minutes on a chess clock.
When both competitors are ready,
* A starts the clock
* B scrambles A's cube (on B time)
* B give the cube to A and taps the clock (switch to A's time)
* A scambles B's cube, gives the cube to B and taps the clock
From here on the competitors takes turns
* make one move (according to FMC rules)
* tap the clock

How to win
A wins the round if
* A solves the cube before B
* B runs out of time
* B break the rules
* The format is first to two wins

Rules
A move (or the initial scramble) can only be done while your time is running.
A move is according to FMC rules, i.e. No middles. Rotations are not counted as moves
Before switching the clock the cube must be "dropped", i.e. No hands on the cube
If you switch the time without making a move you must wait for your opponent to switch time again before you can make a move.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
