The registration fee includes admission into the Science Center for the competitor and one guest only. Additional guests will need to purchase tickets for admission to the Science Center.
Ticket information is available at LSC's website - tickets for admission and additional LSC experiences can be purchased either online or on-site.
This competition is participating in the official WCA Newcomer Month 2025. The registration process will reserve 25 spots for new competitors. New competitors are considered to have no WCA ID or a WCA ID with 2025. Returning competitors are considered to have a WCA ID that is from 2024 or earlier. All competitors must still follow all registration requirements for their registration to be considered complete.
Registrations will be accepted based on the following:- 25 spots are reserved for new competitors.
- Initially, 50 spots are available for returning competitors on a first come, first serve basis.
- If greater than 25 new competitors register before 50 spots are filled by returning competitors, any additional new competitors will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis alongside returning competitors.
- If the spots reserved for new competitors are not filled by new competitors before registration closes two weeks prior to the competition, remaining spots, up to the competitor limit, will be accepted from registered returning competitors.

This competition is part of the Liberty Science Center Open 2025 Competition Series. Other competitions in this Series are: Note: You can submit a registration for all competitions in a Series, but only one of those registrations can be confirmed and accepted. You will only be allowed to compete in one of the Series competitions!
There is a competitor limit of 75 competitors.
The base registration fee for this competition is $30 (United States Dollar).

If your registration is cancelled before Sunday, March 9, 2025 at 4:59 AM UTC you will be refunded 50% of your registration fee.
Registrants on the waiting list may be accepted onto the competitor list until Sunday, March 9, 2025 at 4:59 AM UTC.
If you are a registered competitor you may change your registered events until Sunday, March 9, 2025 at 4:59 AM UTC on the Register tab.
No on the spot registrations will be accepted.
Spectators are only permitted as companions of competitors.
Competitors may bring at most 1 guest.

Liberty Science Center is easily accessible by driving or public transportation using the PATH and Hudson-Bergen Light Rail or NYC Ferry.
On-site Parking is available for a daily fee of $7.00.
Off-site parking is available for free on weekends at Liberty State Park - Park & Ride. Check their website for latest information. The Parking lot is a 5-minute walk from LSC.

The competition will take place in the Center for Learning and Teaching on the 1st floor.

Food and drinks are not allowed in the Competition Area. They are permitted only in the cafeteria and dining area upstairs.
Cosmic Café - In this LSC’s food hall, you’ll find family favorites including hot and cold sandwiches, house-made pizza, chicken, salads, and snacks.
Galaxy Grab and Go - A speedy self-service area where you can pick up a snack, pay, and go.

For First-Time Competitors
All newcomers must be familiar with the WCA Regulations before competing. This video gives a basic overview of the rules.

For All Competitors
When you arrive, you will receive a card with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event. In addition, you will also have judging/scrambling assignments on your card. Every competitor is expected to help out during the event(s) they are registered for. The card will look like the following:
If you do not arrive to help during your scheduled event, and there are not enough staff members, we reserve the right to disqualify you from competing.
Registration Process
Before You Register
All prospective registrants need a WCA account. New competitors can create their own WCA account by clicking here and entering the required information.
How to Register Online
Prospective competitors register by:
1. Signing into their WCA account;
2. Clicking "Register" on the left side of this webpage, selecting the events they would like to compete in, and submitting their registration;
3. Paying the registration fee of $30.00. (The registration fee is the same regardless of how many events are selected.) Your registration is not complete until you have paid the registration fee.
The competitor limit for this competition is 75. The list of approved competitors can be found by clicking "Competitors" on the left side of this webpage. If there are already 75 competitors on that list, it means the competition is full, and any future registrants will be placed on the waitlist.
Competitors MUST register and pay online in order to compete. No at-the-door registrations or payments will be accepted.
Any requested changes to registration before Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST will be honored. Your registration is not complete until your name shows up on the list.
How to Pay for Registration Online
Payment is processed through Stripe. Click on the "Register" tab on the left side of the webpage to register and pay all in one place! You can start the payment process by clicking "Pay your fees with card."
Refunds
Approved competitors who cancel their registration before Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST are eligible for a refund for half (50%) of their registration cost. After this date, no refund requests will be honored. Attempting to file a chargeback for the registration fee will lead to being blacklisted from future WCA events.
Waitlist Information
We will be keeping a waitlist for this competition. To secure a place on the waitlist once 75 competitors have paid, simply pay the registration fee. If a competitor emails us to drop out before Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST, you will be notified if you are the next competitor on the waitlist. After that deadline, all remaining competitors on the waitlist will be emailed letting them know they did not get off the waitlist and will be fully refunded.

As stated on the "Info" page, this competition is participating in the official WCA Newcomer Month 2025. The registration process will reserve 25 spots for new competitors. New competitors are considered to have no WCA ID or a WCA ID with 2025. Returning competitors are considered to have a WCA ID that is from 2024 or earlier.
At present, all the spots for returning competitors have been filled up and the current open spots have been reserved for new competitors. Returning Competitors from the below list will be accepted if the remaining spots are not filled up with new comeptitors by early March or if there are any cancellations from the current approved competitors.
NOTE: 100% of the paid fees will be refunded if your registration hasn't been accepted before the deadline.
Time limit
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
Cutoff
The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).
Format
The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
