Important Information

-All competitors must have read the WCA regulations. Participants are expected to know WCA regulations before attending an official competition. We will have a competitor tutorial for new participants before the first event begins, where we will show how to compete in an official WCA competition. If you want to get a better idea of how the competition works already, please check these videos which will show you this. Reading through this guide. is also a good idea since it shows most things a competitor needs to know.

-Check your e-mail a week before the competition, you will receive pre-competition email where we will address various important information for participants to know. This email will also include any changes made since the competition was announced. If there is any other urgent information which we need to communicate to competitors, then it will be done through e-mail so therefore it is important that you check your e-mail regularly.

-You must be ready to compete when your group/event starts. You need to be present at the venue during the events in which you plan to attend. You need to be present at the venue at least 60 minutes before your event starts As the schedule may differ slightly from what was previously announced. If you’re not on time and miss the last call for that event, you will not be able to compete for that event. Missing any given event does not bar you from competing in subsequent events (but does bar you from competing in subsequent rounds of events you missed).

-Grouping summary list A Grouping summary list will be published here a week prior competition, please note down which groups you are competing, scrambling or judging in before arriving at the competition!

Tutorial of Competition Registration

The steps for registration are as follows:

  1. Sign up / Sign in your WCA account.

  2. Register into the competition through here

  3. Make payment

  4. Once registration and payment done, please provide the organising team some time to process your registration.

Make sure to register and pay for the competition to be accepted in the registration list, failure to do so will lead to invalid registration.

If your registration is not approved within 3 working days after payment, please contact the organization team.

Tutorial for new competitors

We will have a demonstration showing how the competing process works before the first event begin, but we *highly recommend watching these videos * to get a good understanding of how solving in competition works. Reading through this guide is also a good idea since it shows most things a competitor needs to know.

It is also important that you read through the WCA Regulations so that you are aware and familiar with the lastest WCA Regulations.

Remember that you only need to be at the venue when you have an event to compete in, but since the schedule might change slightly throughout the competition, we recommend showing up at least an hour before your first event. If you’re not on time and miss the last call for that event, you will not be able to compete for that event. Missing any given event does not bar you from competing in subsequent events (but does bar you from competing in subsequent rounds of events you missed).

Throughout the competition, you will be able to see live results from WCA Live, and there you can see what results you got and whether or not you proceeded to the next round.

If you have any questions, feel free to email one of the organizers, we're happy to help!

Each event is run in groups, depending on how many people are competing in the event, which determines the number of groups there will be.

We call each group up one at a time in order to complete their solves during the scheduled time for the round.
We have a program that automatically picks what groups you are in and who scrambles for each group.
This is the minimum amount you should be helping out as it only is for first rounds.

We always appreciate extra help!

Please note down which groups you are competing and scrambling in before arriving at the competition!

Throughout the competition, live results will be uploaded continuously by our team through WCA Live

This will be the first Malaysia Cube Championship without combining the FMC and Blindfolded events

Therefore, we will be announcing the Malaysia Cube Championship 2024 (Please Be Quiet Championship) upcoming.

If you wish to join the largest competition ever held in Malaysia, "Rubik's WCA Asian Championship 2024" on November 1-4, you are required to have competed in at least one WCA official competition prior to this tournament.

Therefore, if you'd like to compete and qualify, you can participate in this competition, as it serves as a qualifying event for the Asian Championship 2024.

You may check here for the qualification requirement for Rubik's WCA Asian Championship 2024.

Q: How can I change my registered events? How do I withdraw?
If you wish to add/remove/amend your event, or withdraw from the competition, please contact the organising team before the registration deadline

Q: Is there a qualification time required?
A: There is no qualification time to compete in any event. However, there will be cutoffs and time limits in place, depending on the event. A competitor has to meet the cutoff in order to complete their remaining solves in an average or mean. When a competitor exceeds the time limit during an attempt, the attempt will be marked as “DNF” (Did Not Finish).

Q: How do I know my results? How do I find out if I've progressed to the next round?
A: Results will be uploaded live throughout the day to WCA Live. Please allow some time after finishing your solves for them to be keyed into the system. You may may check if you’ve made it to the following round after all results in a given round have been entered.

Q: Is there an age requirement to participate? Are there any age divisions?
A: There is no age requirement, but the only requirement is that you are able to solve! There will not be any age divisions because age isn’t a barrier in speedcubing, as with other competitions around the world!

Q: What time should I arrive at the competition?
A: You should be punctual for registration according the the competition schedule. If you only have events for Day 2, you can register on Day 2 instead. Please note that the schedule may be subjected to changes during the competition itself.

Q: What do I need to know before the competition day?
A: Before attending you should be familiar with the WCA Regulations. You should also know when your events are scheduled throughout the competition. We also recommend to watch this competitor guide and go through this competition tutorial document.

Q: What do I need to bring on the competition day?
A: You MUST bring your own puzzles, and also a pen if you do not wish to share pens being used during the competition. If you are a first-timer, please bring a form of identification that states both your name and nationality e.g. IC, birth certificate, passport, driver’s license, etc, for verification purposes during on-site registration. Most importantly, bring an open heart to learn, socialise and to have an enjoyable experience with other cubers!

Q: Who can I ask for help on the day?
A: Feel free to approach any of the delegates or organisers to ask them any questions that you may have.

Q: Can I help on the day?
A: Of course! We would appreciate if more people are willing to volunteer as judges to help during competition. You may approach the delegates/organisers to ask how you can best help out. In fact, competitiors may be assigned tasks such as being a judge or scrambler during the competition, depending on their experience.
