Before You Register

All prospective registrants need a WCA account. New competitors can create their own WCA account by clicking here and entering the required information.

How to Register Online

Prospective competitors register by:
1. Signing into their WCA account;
2. Clicking "Register" on the left side of this webpage, selecting the events they would like to compete in, and submitting their registration;
3. Paying the registration fee of $30.00. (The registration fee is the same regardless of how many events are selected.) Your registration is not complete until you have paid the registration fee.

The competitor limit for this competition is 25. The list of approved competitors can be found by clicking "Competitors" on the left side of this webpage. If there are already 25 competitors on that list, it means the competition is full, and any future registrants will be placed on the waitlist.

Competitors MUST register and pay online in order to compete. No at-the-door registrations or payments will be accepted.

Series Competition Rules

With this being a series competition, the registration rules are different than normal WCA competitions.

When registration opens, please register in the order that you would want to attend. The order you register in will be interpreted as your order of preference. For instance, if you want to attend competition B the most, but also would be ok with competition D, register for B followed by D.

You will initially have to pay the registration fee for every competition you submit a registration for. Please note that this order cannot change, so please make sure you are exactly sure of the order you decide to register in!

Additionally, we highly recommend that you register as soon as registration opens, as this competition is expected to fill up very quickly.

We will review all registrations in the order they come in and give out as many first preferences as possible. If you are not able to make it onto the competitor list for your first preference, you will continue be on the waitlist for that competition, even if you are accepted onto your 2nd/3rd/4th choice. For example, if you are accepted to your third-choice competition, you will remain on the waitlist for both your first and second choices.

If you are taken off the waitlist and accepted onto a competitor list for a higher-preference competition than the one you’re currently on, your registration for the lower-preference competition will be deleted and a 100% refund will be given automatically.

If you have been accepted to 1 of the 4 competitions and choose to withdraw your registration completely, you will receive a 50% refund for that competition and a 100% refund for any of the other 3 competitions for which you are on the waitlist.

After the refund deadline (a week before the competition), registration lists will be “locked” and no more changes will be made. The competitor list you are on will be the one you compete in! At this point, any remaining registration costs will be refunded to waitlisted competitors.

On 29th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues.

Enter through the front doors off of 29th Street and take the elevators to the second floor.

Getting There

By Public Transit:

Being in Midtown Manhattan, this venue is very easy to reach by train.

From Long Island/New Jersey or via Amtrak:

Take any train into Penn Station. The venue is about 3 blocks south of the station.

From Points North:

Take any train into Grand Central Station. From there, you can reach the venue by taking a Hudson Yards-bound 7 train to Times Square, and then a South Ferry-bound 1 train to 28th Street. The venue is half a block away from this stop.

From within NYC:

The nearest subways stops to the venue are 28th Street on the 1 and 34th St - Harold Square on the B, D, F, M, and 7 trains.

By Car:

Parking is expected to be quite difficult to find and/or expensive in this area. However, this venue is located near Madison Square Garden, which is expected to have plentiful parking nearby in the morning.

For First-Time Competitors

All newcomers must be familiar with the WCA Regulations before competing. This video gives a basic overview of the rules.

In addition, please read this tutorial document before coming to the competition.

For All Competitors

When you arrive, you will receive a card with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event. In addition, you will also have judging/scrambling assignments on your card. Every competitor is expected to help out during the event(s) they are registered for. The card will look like the following:

If you do not arrive to help during your scheduled event, and there are not enough staff members, we reserve the right to disqualify you from competing.

For those of you new to cubing, WELCOME!

We wanted to let you know this event is perfectly fine for cubers of any age and experience. We just ask you know a couple things before coming to compete...

First, please be familiar with the WCA Regulations, found here:

If you have any questions after this video, we will be having a new competitor tutorial before every competition in this series. That would be the perfect time to ask those questions and clear up any confusion.

Q&A:

Q: Do I use my own cube to compete?

A: YES! You are responsible for your own hardware in order to compete, however, we will have a vendor at this competition, from which you can buy puzzles if your current ones have seen better days.

Q: What is the normal age of competitors at these events?

A: All ages are welcome, but in general competitors are between 10 and 20 years old. Don't let this stop you though, everyone can and should cube!

Q: What is the competition like?

A; Competitions are a bunch of tables where nerds like us get to sit and discuss our favorite thing, Cubes! Of course in addition there is competing, which will occupy one side of the competition hall, where you will see lots of timers flickering with contestants new personal bests, and a vendor, where you can purchase all you cubing related needs. Most competitions have a break for lunch, and the competing is split up into heats, as to better organize who competes when. (Check the Groups tab and listen at the competition for more info on this.)

Q: How do I find results?

A: All results are posted on the WCA page a couple of days after the competition finishes. However, for the day of competing, go to live.worldcubeassociation.org to find current results. This is also where you will find information about 2nd rounds of events.

Q: Are there age divisions?

A: Nope! All cometitors compete in the same group.

Q: Can I have fun at this event?

A: HECK YES! Cubing is amazing, and we sincerely hope you enjoy the competition!
