Competitor Duties
If this isn't your first competition, you will be assigned some judging and/or running duties throughout the competition. You will only be assigned these tasks in events that you're competing in. If you don't know how to judge or run, make sure to come to the competitor tutorial at the start of the competition.
Your scheduled duties will be on the back of your name tag (explained in the competitor tutorial), so please be aware of when you're expected to come up and help. This is required to keep the competition running smoothly and on time, since it is purely run by volunteeers. For non-first rounds (ie 3x3x3 round 2) there are no assigned duties, so if you see an empty judging seat then please come up and fill it.
Feel free to also watch this video to learn how to judge.
Your competition schedule, which includes all rounds you're competing and staffing in will also be available at Competition Groups about a week before the competition. If you are a confirmed registrant, you will receive a pre-competition email which will contain an updated link to this Competition Groups page, among other useful information. We recommend you keep this link open during the competition, so you can see when you are competing, especially if you've made it past the first round.
We also ask that you keep the venue as tidy as possible as possible - please put garbage/recycling/etc in the appropriate bins when you're leaving.
If you need help or are confused about any of these duties, just ask an organizer or an experienced competitor and they can explain.
We look forward to seeing you at the competition!
Welcome
For those of you new to cubing - WELCOME! This competition is fine for cubers of any age and experience. We just ask you to be aware of these basics before coming to compete.

Zimo Li is providing 1200 cubes to assemble a mosaic at Maple Ridge Favourites 2025! Zimo is building this mosaic because cubing is his biggest passion in life and building a Rubik’s cube mosaic is one of his biggest dream and goal to accomplish in cubing. He is also doing this to pay tribute to the man who got him into cubing.
This is an optional activity, but we welcome you to help create this mosaic of a "melting cube." All participants will receive a free Moyu 3x3 as a prize!
This mosaic will also be led by Alex Moscibroda. In 2021, Alex founded Moshixel, a start-up company that specializes in designing and creating epic mosaic arts made from Rubik's cubes. A Moshixel mosaic consists of hundreds or even thousands of Rubik's cubes, each one of them carefully assembled and placed to collectively create an individual work of art that is custom-designed and hand-made for a customer.
While some customers ask for a Moshixel design based on the portrait of a loved one or a historic person, others have asked for a Rubik's cube version of a famous art work or a favorite picture, and yet others have asked for entirely novel designs. Customers can specify the shape, dimension, and finish (e.g. framed or not framed) of their art work to fit perfectly to wherever the final work is intended to be displayed.
Their largest Moshixel mosaic to date consists of more than 1,500 Rubik's cubes and hangs on a customer's living room wall. Moshixel would love to work with you to create your truly one-of-a-kind unique Rubik's Cube mosaic. Their website is Moshixel.com.
