Warming Up - Rubik's WCA European Championship 2022

Mental Warm Up Arlanda 2022 is a pre-competition before Warm Up Stockholm 2022 on the 9-10th of July, which in turn is a pre-competition before the Rubik's WCA European Championship 2022 in Copenhagen, Denmark, on the 14-17th of July. This competition is focused on the (side and blind) events not held at the larger Warm Up Stockholm 2022 competition. Information and tips for those who want to participate the whole "tour" follow below:

Accommodation

Do you want to save money on accommodation during your days in greater Stockholm? Then bring an air mattress and sleep on the floor of the venue on Thursday night, completely free of charge! More information about this can be found under the tab "Accommodation", remember to register using this form. Warm Up Stockholm 2022 offers similar possibilities, making it possible to sleep for free in greater Stockholm from Thursday night to Monday morning.

Tourism

After this competition, on the Friday in between the two Warm Up competitions in greater Stockholm, you will be well placed geographically to spend a day sightseeing in the area. Some tips on things you can do are listed below, with travel times using public transport and a tourism website included:

• Sweden's fourth largest city, Uppsala, is located only 19 minutes away by regional trains from Märsta station. The city is among other things known for Scandinavia's largest cathedral, Uppsala castle, Uppsala university and the old Uppsala archeological site. See: Destination Uppsala.
• Visit picturesque Sigtuna, the oldest city in Sweden, with museums, churches and ruins, situated on lake Mälaren. Located only 30-35 minutes away from the venue by local buses. See: Destination Sigtuna.
• Heading south, Märsta station is only 19 minutes away (by regional trains) and 37 minutes away (by SL) from central Stockholm city. Here you will find everything the capital city has to offer, ranging from museums to beautiful walks on the capital's 14 islands to amusement parks. If you want to head out from the city center, the royal residence of Drottningholm's castle is located on the Lovön island, 30 minutes from the city center by subway and bus. See: Visit Stockholm.
• If you are ok with a very early departure (around 7am) from Märsta (or on Thursday evening after the competition), then the Stockholm archipelago is definitely worth a visit. The whole archipelago consists of 30000 islands and islets, all with their unique charm. Recommending only one is quite hard, but your best bet might be "Utö" island, well located geographically for the Warming Up competitions. It is among the most visited, with a lively small town and its old mining village close to the main guest harbor of "Gruvbryggan". Beaches are available around the island, but if you hire a bicycle at Gruvbryggan, you will be well suited to explore the forests of this large island, and reach one of the best beaches in the archipelago: "Stora Sand". Waxholmsbolaget provides ferry services aimed at both commuters and tourists in the whole archipelago. A summer daily service always leaves the jetties at "Strömkajen" and "Slussen" right in the middle of Stockholm city at around 08:45-09:00am, and arrives at "Gruvbryggan (Utö)", after a long but comfortable and beautiful ride, at 12:30pm (173 SEK for adults, 114 SEK for 7-19 year olds). That will give you around 8 hours of exploring the island before catching the last ferry from Gruvbryggan at 20:30pm to "Årsta Brygga" at 21:20pm (97 SEK / 64 SEK). From the jetty at Årsta, you have 45 minutes of travel time remaining to reach Torvalla Sportcentrum and the venue for Warm Up Stockholm starting the morning afterwards. N.B. Waxholmsbolaget's summer timetable is not completely decided yet, so the given times may change slightly when they are made public in mid May.

Joint sightseeing

Are you interested in participating in a joint sightseeing in central Stockholm on the Monday the day after Warm Up Stockholm? In that case, register your interest through the following form. It will be free to participate, but any extra costs (such as entrance fees or food) are not included. Although a registration here is not binding, please only fill this in if you are actually interested in participating. The itinerary will be determined if we see enough demand for the sightseeing tour.

Rubik's WCA European Championship 2022

Mental Warm Up Arlanda 2022 är en förtävling inför Warm Up Stockholm 2022 den 9-10 juli, som i sin tur är en förtävling till Rubiks WCA European Championship 2022 i Köpenhamn, Danmark, den 14-17 juli. Denna tävling är inriktad på de (sido- och blind-) grenar som inte hålls på den större Warm Up Stockholm 2022-tävlingen. Information och tips för dig som vill vara med på hela "touren" följer nedan:

Boende

Vill du spara pengar på boende under dina dagar i Storstockholm? Ta då med en luftmadrass och sov på golvet i lokalen på torsdagskvällen, helt gratis! Mer information om detta finns under fliken "Boende", kom ihåg att anmäla dig genom detta formulär. Warm Up Stockholm 2022 erbjuder liknande möjligheter, vilket gör det möjligt att sova gratis i Storstockholm från torsdag natt till måndag morgon.

Turism

Efter denna tävling, på fredagen mellan de två Warm Up-tävlingarna i Storstockholm, kommer du att vara väl placerad geografiskt för att tillbringa en dag med sightseeing i området. Några tips om saker du kan göra listas nedan, med restider med kollektivtrafik och en turistwebbplats inkluderat:

• Sveriges fjärde största stad, Uppsala, ligger bara 19 minuter bort med regionaltåg från Märsta station. Staden är bland annat känd för Skandinaviens största katedral, Uppsala slott, Uppsala universitet och gamla Uppsalas fornlämningsområde. Se: Destination Uppsala.
• Besök pittoreska Sigtuna, Sveriges äldsta stad, med museer, kyrkor och ruiner, belägen vid Mälaren. Beläget bara 30-35 minuter från lokalen med lokalbussar. Se: Destination Sigtuna.
• Märsta station ligger bara 19 minuter (med regionaltåg) och 37 minuter (med SL) norr om centrala Stockholm city. Här hittar du allt huvudstaden har att erbjuda, allt från museer till vackra promenader på huvudstadens 14 öar till nöjesparker. Vill du ge dig ut från stadskärnan ligger det kungliga residenset på Drottningholms slotts på Lovön, 30 minuter från centrum med tunnelbana och buss. Se: Visit Stockholm.
• Om du är ok med en väldigt tidig avresa (ungefär 07:00) från Märsta (eller på torsdagskvällen efter tävlingen) så är Stockholms skärgård definitivt värd ett besök. Hela skärgården består av 30 000 öar och holmar, alla med sin unika charm. Att bara rekommendera en är ganska svårt, men ett bra tips kan vara Utö, väl placerad geografiskt i relation till Warm Up-tävlingarna. Ön är bland de mest besökta, med ett livligt samhälle och dess gamla gruvby nära den största gästhamnen Gryvbryggan. Stränder finns runt ön, men hyr du en cykel på Gruvbryggan är du redo att utforska skogarna på denna stora ö, och nå en av skärgårdens bästa stränder: Stora Sand. Se: Visit Utö.

Waxholmsbolaget tillhandahåller båttrafik riktad till både pendlare och turister i hela skärgården. En daglig båt lämnar alltid bryggorna vid Strömkajen och Slussen mitt i Stockholm ca 08:45-09:00 och anländer till "Gruvbryggan (Utö)", efter en lång men bekväm och vacker tur, kl 12:30 (173 kr för vuxna, 114 kr för 7-19 åringar). Det ger dig cirka 8 timmars utforskande av ön innan du tar den sista båten från Gruvbryggan kl 20:30 till Årsta Brygga kl 21:20 (97 SEK / 64 SEK). Är du intresserad av att delta på en gemensam sightseeing i centrala Stockholm på måndagen dagen efter Warm Up Stockholm? Anmäl i sådana fall ditt intresse genom följande formulär. Det blir gratis att delta, men eventuella extra kostnader (såsom entréavgifter eller mat) ingår inte. Även om en anmälan här inte är bindande, vänligen fyll bara i detta om du verkligen är intresserad av att delta. Rutten och schemat kommer att fastställas om vi ser tillräckligt med efterfrågan på sightseeingturen.

New competitors

If this is your first WCA competition, welcome! Everyone is warmly welcome to compete, but remember that this competition only holds the (side and blind) events which are not held at Warm Up Stockholm 2022. Make sure to read through all tabs above as there is a lot of important information there.

If you've never competed before, you should bring a valid ID, for example a passport or driver's licence, to verify your birth date and nationality. If the competitor does not have an ID, a parent can confirm this information.

We will have a demonstration showing how the competing process works on Thursday morning before 6x6 / 7x7, but we highly recommend watching this video to get a good understanding of how solving in competition works. Reading through this guide is also a good idea since it shows most things a competitor needs to know.

It is also important that you read through the WCA Regulations so that you are aware of different penalties and how to avoid them.

Remember that you only need to be at the venue when you have an event to compete in, but since the schedule might change slightly throughout the competition, we recommend showing up at least 20 minutes before your first event.

Throughout the competition, you will be able to see live results from WCA Live, and there you can see what results you got and whether or not you proceeded to the next round.

Nya tävlande

Om det här är din första WCA-tävling, välkommen! Alla är varmt välkomna att tävla, men tänk på att denna tävling endast har de (sido- och blind-) grenar som inte hålls på Warm Up Stockholm 2022. Det är viktigt att du läser igenom alla flikar här på sidan, eftersom det finns mycket viktig information där.

Om du aldrig tävlat förut bör du ha med ett giltigt ID, till exempel ett pass eller körkort, för att intyga när du är född och din nationalitet. Om den tävlande inte har ett ID kan en förälder bekräfta dessa uppgifter.

På torsdag morgon innan 6x6 / 7x7 kommer vi demonstrera hur det går till att tävla, men vi rekommenderar starkt att du även kollar på den här videon så du bättre förstår hur det går till att lösa i tävling. Att läsa igenom denna guide är också en bra idé eftersom den visar det mesta man behöver känna till som deltagare.

Det är också viktigt att du läser igenom WCA-reglerna så du får en bättre förståelse för vilka olika tidsstraff du kan få på lösningarna, och hur du undviker dem.

Kom ihåg att du bara behöver vara i lokalen när du har någon gren att tävla i, men eftersom schemat kan ändras något under tävlingen rekommenderar vi att du är där minst 20 minuter innan din första gren.

Under hela tävlingen kommer du kunna se live-resultat från WCA Live, där kan du se vilka resultat du fick, och ifall du gick vidare till nästa runda.

Important info

All competitors must have read the WCA regulations. Participants are expected to know WCA's regulations before attending an official competition. We will have a competitor tutorial for new participants before 6x6 / 7x7 on Thursday, where we will show how to compete in an official WCA competition. If you want to get a better idea of how the competition works already, please check this video which will show you this. Reading through this guide. is also a good idea since it shows most things a competitor needs to know.

You must be registered for this competetiton online in order to compete! You can register here.

All new competitors should bring a valid ID. To be allowed to compete as a new competitor, you need to be able to identify yourself and the information you provided us when you registred for this competition. A passport is a good example of a valid ID since it shows all necessary information, such as name, nationality and date of birth.

You must be ready to compete when your group starts. You need to be present at the venue during the events in which you plan to attend. However, you need to be present at the venue no later than 20 minutes before your first event starts so that you have enough time to complete the registration. It is however always recommended to be at the venue at least 20 minutes before your next event, since the schedule may differ slightly from what was previously announced.

No flash photography in the entire venue! Flash is distracting to the competitors. Pictures without the use of flash are allowed.

Spectators should remain 1,5 meters away from the solving stations and the competition area. Otherwise, you might distract other competitors or disrupt the competition flow.

You are not allowed to talk about the scrambles until the round is done Otherwise, you might get disqualified.

Check your e-mail A few days before the competition, you will receive a participant email where we will address various important information for participants to know. This email will also include any changes made since the competition was announced. If there is any other urgent information which we need to communicate to competitors, then it will be done through e-mail so therefore it is important that you check your e-mail regularly.

Viktig info

Alla tävande ska ha läst WCA:s Regler. Deltagare förväntas känna till WCA:s reglemente innan man deltar på en officiell tävling. Reglerna finns även översatta till svenska, men tänk på att det är den engleska originalversionen som gäller om det skulle finnas några skillnader.
Vi kommer ha en deltagarintroduktion innan 6x6 / 7x7 på torsdagen för nya deltagare där vi går igenom hur det går till när man tävlar på en officiell WCA-tävling. Vill man redan nu få bättre koll på hur tävlingsproceduren går till, kolla då gärna denna video som visar detta på ett bra sätt. Att läsa igenom denna guide är också en bra idé eftersom den visar det mesta man behöver känna till som deltagare.

Alla nya tävlande bör ha med ett giltigt ID. För att få tävla som ny deltagare måste du kunna identifiera dig själv och visa att den information du gav oss när du registrerade dig för den här tävlingen är korrekt. Ett pass är ett bra exempel på ett giltigt ID eftersom det visar all nödvändig information, såsom namn, nationalitet och födelsedatum.

Du måste vara redo att tävla när din grupp startar Du behöver vara på plats i lokalen under de grenar där du planerar att delta. Du behöver dock vara på plats i lokalen senast 20 minuter innan din första gren ska börja, så du hinner fullfölja registreringen. Vi rekommenderar dock alltid att ni är på plats i lokalen minst 20 minuter innan er nästa gren, då schemat kan variera något jämfört med vad som först var planerat.

Fotografering med blixt är förbjudet i hela lokalen! Blixtar är störande för tävlande. Fotografering utan blixt är tillåtet.

Publik måste befinna sig 1,5 meter ifrån tävlingsstationerna och tävlingsområdet Annars finns risken att man stör andra tävlande eller tävlingsproceduren.

Man får inte prata om blandningarna innan man tävlat färdigt i pågående gren Annars finns risken att man blir diskvalificerad.

Håll koll på er e-mail Några dagar innan tävlingen kommer ni få ett deltagarmail där vi kommer ta upp diverse viktig information för deltagare att känna till. I detta mail kommer också eventuella ändringar sedan tävlingen annonserades tas upp. Om det finns annan information som vi snabbt måste kommunicera till deltagare så kommer detta också ske via e-mail, därför är det viktigt att ni håller koll på er e-mail regelbundet.

Travel

By car

The address is Vikingavägen 2, Märsta, about 30-35 minutes north of central Stockholm and 10 minutes west of Stockholm Arlanda airport. There are plenty of parking spaces available in front of the venue.

By plane

The most convenient airport by far is Stockholm Arlanda Airport, although there are many more airports in greater Stockholm and Mälardalen. You can reach the venue from the "Sky City/Terminal 5" bus stop with SL local buses in about 30-35 minutes (see info below). If you are heading from the airport to Stockholm city center, see the information on the Warm Up Stockholm 2022 page.

Warning: Make sure to avoid catching a commuter train from Arlanda if you are heading directly to the venue. This option will on average be slower than the local buses, and cost you 130 SEK extra for the station passage fee for adults. Make sure to enter "Sky City/Terminal 5" as your origin on SL's website to make sure that these pricey options are removed from your journey planner search results.

By train

If you head for the venue from anywhere outside Stockholm county, a long distance train will likely be your best bet. You can search for, and buy tickets to "Märsta station" (2,1 kilometers walking or a short bus ride from the venue) on sj.se. If you find no suitable journeys, you might have better luck looking for journeys to Stockholm central station, and then utilizing SL local transport to get to Märsta and the venue. Resrobot can be used to search for detailed combined journeys by trains and local transport, although separate tickets will likely be needed for said trains and local transport.

By local transport (SL)

SL runs the local transport inside Stockholm county (including from Arlanda airport, Stockholm central station or Märsta station). There are many different lines and bus stops serving the venue and its surroundings, so you are recommended to write "Vikingavägen 2 (Märsta)" as your destination to see all options. Travel time is around 30-35 minutes from Arlanda airport ("Sky City/Terminal 5" bus stop), around 55-60 minutes from Stockholm City (central station) and around 10 minutes from Märsta station. The ticket costs 39 SEK for adults and 26 SEK for youths (7-19 years old) regardless of destination as long as you don't pass any new ticket gates / validators after 75 minutes from first validation.

Use the SL website to see timetables, ticket information, and personal travel planning throughout Stockholm County for other destinations. The easiest way to buy the ticket is via SL's app or by tapping your credit card (contactless) in the gate / validator.

Resa

Med bil

Adressen är Vikingavägen 2, Märsta, ca 30-35 minuter norr om centrala Stockholm och 10 minuter väster om Arlanda flygplats. Det finns gott om parkeringsplatser framför lokalen.

Med flyg

Den överlägset närmsta flygplatsen är Stockholm Arlanda, även om det finns många fler flygplatser i Storstockholm och Mälardalen. Du kan nå lokalen från busshållplatsen "Sky City/Terminal 5" med SL:s lokalbussar på cirka 30-35 minuter (se info nedan). Varning: Se till att undvika att ta ett pendeltåg från Arlanda om du ska direkt till lokalen. Detta alternativ kommer i genomsnitt vara långsammare än lokalbussarna och kosta dig 130 SEK extra för stationsavgiften för vuxna. Se till att ange "Sky City/Terminal 5" som din avresehållplats på SL:s hemsida för att säkerställa att dessa dyra alternativ tas bort från reseplanerarens sökresultat.

Med tåg

Om du reser till tävlingslokalen från någonstans utanför Stockholms län, är fjärrtåg förmodligen det bästa alternativet. Du kan söka och köpa biljetter till "Märsta station" (2,1 kilometers promenad eller en kort bussresa från lokalen) på sj.se. Hittar du inga lämpliga resor kan ett alternativ vara att söka resor till Stockholms centralstation, och sedan använda SL:s lokaltrafik för att ta dig till Märsta och lokalen. Resrobot kan användas för att söka efter detaljerade kombinerade resor med tåg och lokaltrafik, även om separata biljetter sannolikt kommer att behövas för dessa tåg och lokaltrafik.

Med lokaltrafik (SL)

SL kör lokaltrafiken inom Stockholms län (inklusive från Arlanda flygplats, Stockholms centralstation eller Märsta station). Det finns många olika linjer och busshållplatser som trafikerar lokalen och dess omgivning, så du rekommenderas att skriva "Vikingavägen 2 (Märsta)" som din destination för att se alla alternativ. Restiden är cirka 30-35 minuter från Arlanda flygplats (busshållplatsen "Sky City/Terminal 5"), cirka 55-60 minuter från Stockholm City (centralstationen) och cirka 10 minuter från Märsta station. Accommodation

Floor accomodation

It is possible to sleep on the floor of the venue after the competition, from Thursday night to Friday morning. It is free of charge, but a reservation must be made through this form to reserve a spot. Initially, only 36 spots are available first come first serve, but this might be expanded if there is enough demand. The sleeping hall must be vacated no later than 8:30am on Friday morning.

Hotels and hostels

If you can find a room at either "Hotel Arkaden" or "BoKloster VillaHotel", then these would be your closest options located in Märsta, 1,3 and 1,6 kilometers away respectively. Otherwise, many options are available in the "Arlanda airport hotel village", about 2,9 kilometers away, or just in the greater Arlanda airport city region.

Golvförläggning

Det är möjligt att sova på golvet i lokalen efter tävlingen, från torsdag kväll till fredag morgon. Det är gratis, men en bokning måste göras via detta formulär för att reservera en plats. Inledningsvis finns endast 36 platser tillgängliga, först till kvarn, men denna gräns kanske utökas om det finns tillräckligt med efterfrågan. Sovsalen ska vara utrymd senast 08.30 på fredagsmorgonen.

Hotell och vandrarhem

Om du kan hitta ett rum på antingen "Hotel Arkaden" eller "BoKloster VillaHotel", så skulle dessa vara de närmaste alternativen, vilka ligger i Märsta, 1,3 respektive 1,6 kilometer bort. Annars finns det många alternativ i Arlanda Hotellby, cirka 2,9 kilometer bort, eller i övriga Arlandastads-regionen.

Grocery stores

There is one ICA Supermarket available in Valsta, about 1 kilometer from the venue, and both a "Stora Coop" and Lidl supermarket in the direction of the city center, about 1,3 kilometers away.

Restaurants

There are also a few restaurants available in the center around the ICA Supermarket in Valsta (1 km), as well as a few restaurants (pizzas and more) and the Swedish fast food burger chain MAX if you head in the direction of the city center / "Stora Coop" (0,6-1,3 km depending on the chosen option).

Restauranger

Det finns även några restauranger i centrumet runt ICA Supermarket i Valsta (1 km), samt några restauranger (pizzerior med mera) och MAX Hamburgare om du går i riktning mot centrum / "Stora Coop" (0,6-1,3 km bort beroende på valt alternativ).
