Competition FAQ
NOTE: If you are not competing on a given day, you do not need to show up on that day. For example, if you are only doing events that are held on Sunday you do not need to show up on Saturday if you don't want to.
Registration Fee:
There is a $15 flat fee for this competition to help pay for the venue, equipment, and other costs.
There is a competitor limit of 220 competitors.

No outside food is allowed at the venues. There will be a slightly longer lunch break to accomodate.
Spectators may attend for free.
Michigan Cubing Club members may compete for free. Contact us after you have registered.
Registration will be closed at 11:59:59 PM on August 12th. At the door registration will be allowed only if the competitor limit is not reached but competitors can only compete in 3x3 speedsolve. Your registration is not complete until you have paid the registration fee and your name appears under the competitors tab.

This competition is recognized as an official World Cube Association competition. Therefore, all competitors must be familiar with the WCA regulations

Travel and Venue Information

This competition will take place in the Michigan Union.

The Sunday events will take place in the Rogel Ballroom on the second floor and the Pond Room on the first floor.

The closest place to park on Sunday will be at the Maynard Structure, which is located on Maynard St. between William and Liberty. You also may be able to find street parking, which is free all day on Sunday.

Hotels

There are two hotels that you can reserve on campus, the Bell Tower Inn and the Campus Inn. These two hotels are generally expensive, however, and you can find much better deals if you stay off-campus. To see rates and locations, click here.
Air Travel

If you are planning on flying, fly into DTW. There is a very reasonable shuttle service from DTW to Ann Arbor, check out rates and times at AirRide's website. Roundtrip is $22 for adults, and any accompanying children 17 and under ride for free. This service drops you off at the Central Campus Transit Center, which is within walking distance of the venue.

4BLD and 5BLD will be held on Sunday in a separate rooom in a Best of 2 format, with Combined Time limit of 45, and 60 minutes respectively.
you may compete in 4BLD anytime between 9:30 and 12:30
you may compete in 5BLD anytime between 1:30 and 5:30
We will try to schedule breaks for competing in 4/5BLD, but ultimately you will be responsible for making sure that you do not miss your other events.

Cutoff: for average of 5 events, at least one of the first two solves must be under the cutoff time to complete an average of 5
Time limit*: any times over the time limit will be a DNF

We will accept registrations on a first come first serve basis as others cancel thier registrations. We will notify you by email if you are accepted to the competition.
