Information

This is the Mid-Atlantic championship, but anyone can compete regardless of whether they live in the Mid-Atlantic Region or not. See more information on the Championship Eligibility tab.

This event will take place on the arena side of the Henrico Sports & Events Center. Please note that outside food and beverage is not permitted inside the facility.

There is a competitor limit of 400 competitors.
The base registration fee for this competition is $70 (United States Dollar).
The registration fee has to be paid through Stripe here once registered.
If your registration is cancelled before you will be refunded 95% of your registration fee.
Registrants on the waiting list may be accepted onto the competitor list until .
If you are a registered competitor you may change your registered events until on the Register tab.
No on the spot registrations will be accepted.


Please keep in mind that registrations are approved manually after payment, so your registration may not be approved immediately.
Your registration is not complete until your registration fee has been paid.
All competitiors must read the "Competitor Responsibilities" tab.

WAITLIST INFORMATION:
If the competitor limit of 400 has been reached, you can still register and pay the registration fee to secure a spot on the waitlist. During the registration period, any competitor can cancel their registration and allow the first person on the waitlist to take their spot. If you find that you cannot make it to the competition after registering, please contact us so that we can maximize attendance.
All registrants still on the waitlist after the registration period will have their registrations deleted, and will be fully refunded.
We may completely close registration if the waitlist becomes very large.

For First-Time Competitors

All newcomers must be familiar with the WCA Regulations before competing. This video gives a basic overview of the rules. In addition, please read this document before coming to the competition.

For All Competitors

When you arrive, you will receive a card with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event. In addition, you will also have judging/scrambling/running assignments on your card. Every competitor is expected to help out during the event(s) they are registered for. The card will look like the following:

If you do not arrive to help during your scheduled event, and there are not enough staff members, we reserve the right to disqualify you from competing.

CubingUSA Mid-Atlantic Championship 2024 is open to all competitors. However, the title of Mid-Atlantic Champion in each event will be restricted to competitors from the Mid-Atlantic region. The states in each region can be viewed below. Additionally, the title of Virginia Champion in each event will be awarded to the top-ranked competitor who lives in Virginia. In order to be eligible to win a title, you must log in to the CubingUSA website with your WCA account and select your home state by October 1st, 2024 at 11:59pm EDT. After the competition has ended, Mid-Atlantic and Virginia champions may also be required to prove residency in order to claim their titles and any additional prizes associated thereof. Please see the regional title policy found here for more details on how this system works.

Hotels:
We will not be hosting a hotel block for this competition. However, there are ample hotels in close proximity to the venue. We suggest booking early to lock in the best rates!

Food:
The venue does not allow outside food or beverages inside the building (with the exception of water bottles). There will be concessions available at the venue (with gluten-free and vegetarian options) or there are several restaurants nearby. If you go to a restaurant instead of concessions, please be sure to eat and make it back in time for your next events.

Driving:
The venue is located just off of I-95 for easy access!

Amtrak:
Richmond has two Amtrak stations, each of which are about 15 minutes from the venue.

Airport:
The closest airport is Richmond International (RIC), approximately 25-30 minutes from the venue.

To staff at this competition, you must complete this application.

Staff will be given a (busy) schedule to follow throughout the competition. We will let you know whether or not you have been selected for staff after registration closes.

Your registration fee will be refunded if your application is accepted (after the competition as long as you have satisfied your staffing duties), but you must register and pay for the competition to be eligible for the refund. Anyone who does not register for the competition will not be able to compete.

Benefits for staffing at this competition include waived registration fee, and free lunch on all three days of the competition.

Please note that staff members will be given a very rigorous staffing schedule in return for the perks outlined above. They are expected to be proactive throughout the competition and to inform the organizers and Delegates ASAP if they find they are unable to attend.

Staff is open and encouraged for non-competitors as well!

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
