Competitor List

Registrants must pay the registration fee in order to be added to the competitor list. Unpaid registrations will not be accepted. Organizers manually accept registrations one at a time in the order the registration fees are paid, so your name may not appear on the competitor list immediately.

Once the competitor list reaches the 65 competitor limit, registrants who pay the registration fee will be added to the waiting list instead of the competitor list. Due to the competitor limit, completing your registration within the initial registration period does not guarantee you a spot on the competitor list.

Waiting List

The waiting list is ordered based on the timestamp that registrants paid the registration fee. If you are added to the waiting list you will be informed via an email. Additionally, you can ask about your position on the waiting list by emailing Speedcubing Canada.

If anyone on the competitor list deletes their registration, the person at the top of the waiting list will be moved to the competitor list. After October 26, 2023, the competitor list will be finalized and registrants who are still on the waiting list will be refunded 100% of their registration fee. Registrants on the waiting list may email Speedcubing Canada at any time to forfeit their spot on the waiting list and be refunded 100% of their registration fee.

If the competitor list fills up quickly, registration could close earlier than the originally listed date (October 20, 2023). The waiting list will close at the same time that registration closes.

Clock Team Relay (1:00 PM - 1:30 PM)

This is a Best of 1 relay for the Clock event, consisting of two teams of 4 competitors. The team captains will be the two highest ranked Clock competitors at the competition (Lucas Nieuwland and Lucas Kuczaj). The 6 other competitors will be selected from the Top 24 competitors of Round 1 at random, using 3 pools:

Pool 1 - Seeds 1-8 (2 competitors, 1 for each team)
Pool 2 - Seeds 9-16 (2 competitors, 1 for each team)
Pool 3 - Seeds 17-24 (2 competitors, 1 for each team)

The following rules apply:

  • Team members will consecutively complete a single Clock solve. The team with the faster cumulative time will win.
  • In the event of a tie, the fastest single from each team will determine the winner.
  • Standard WCA penalties (e.g. misalignment, timer stops/starts) apply for the solves.
  • Team members will supply their own clocks.
  • This is an unofficial team event, no results will be stored in the WCA database.
  • If no relevant WCA regulation can be applied to resolve an incident, the event’s judges may use discretion to resolve the issue with fair play and sportsmanship as the motivations for the decision.

Parent-Child Team Blind (1:30 - 2:00 PM)

This is a Best of 1 (Bo1) round of 3x3x3 Parent-Child Team Blind. You can be a part of a team even if you are not an official competitor. There is room for up to 8 teams. Each team is expected to supply their own blindfold.

There is no pre-registration. We will make an announcement when the competition starts.

Each team will consist of two participants: the Solver (Parent) and the Caller (Child). A hybrid of the regulations for 3x3x3 Cube and 3x3x3 Blindfolded event, with a few additional regulations, will be used.

  • The Solver dons the blindfold before the inspection phase and must not remove the blindfold until after the solving phase is over.
  • To begin the inspection phase, the judge removes the cover.
  • During the inspection phase, the Caller may inspect the puzzle and call out verbal instructions.
  • The Caller must place the puzzle onto the mat before 15 seconds of inspection has elapsed.
  • The Solver must begin the stackmat timer before 15 seconds of inspection have elapsed.
  • During the solving phase, the judge will not hold an additional opaque object.
  • During the solving phase, the Caller must not touch the puzzle or the Solver. Penalty: DNF.
  • During the solving phase, the Solver and Caller may verbally communicate with each other.
  • During the solving phase, if the Solver pops the puzzle, the Caller may verbally assist, but not physically assist, the Solver in finding the puzzle parts and reassembling the puzzle.
  • To end the solving phase, the Solver places the solved puzzle onto the mat and stops the Stackmat Timer.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
A cumulative time limit may be enforced (see Regulation A1a2).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
