Any spectator can attend for free.
Competitors may only register for events that they are already qualified for.

Competitor List

Registrants must pay the registration fee in order to be added to the competitor list. Unpaid registrations will not be accepted. Organizers manually accept registrations one at a time in the order the registration fees are paid, so you may have to wait a while before your name could show up on the competitor list.

Once the competitor list reaches the 400 competitor limit, registrants who pay the registration fee will be added to the waiting list instead of the competitor list. Due to the competitor limit, completing your registration within the initial registration period does not guarantee you a spot on the competitor list.

Waiting List

The waiting list is ordered based on the timestamp that registrants paid the registration fee. You can ask about your position on the waiting list by emailing Speedcubing Canada.

If anyone on the competitor list deletes their registration, the person at the top of the waiting list will be moved to the competitor list. After July 25th, 2024, the competitor list will be finalized and registrants who are still on the waiting list will be refunded 100% of their registration fee. Anyone on the waiting list may email Speedcubing Canada at any time to have their registration deleted (forfeiting your spot on the waiting list) and be refunded 100% of their registration fee.

If the competitor list fills up quickly, registration could close earlier than the originally listed date (July 25th, 2024). The waiting list will close at the same time that registration closes.

Rules

The title of Ontario Champion will be awarded to the highest ranking competitor from Ontario in each event.

Note that title eligibility is based on residency, not citizenship. If you represent a region that is NOT Canada on the WCA, but live in Ontario, you may be eligible for the title of Ontario Champion.

You can confirm your Ontario residency either by filling this form before the competition, OR verbally at the check-in table during the competition. Note that you only need to do this if you expect to be the highest ranking competitor from Ontario in an event.

If you have any champion eligibility questions, please contact us.

The groups for the competition can be found on the Competition Groups website here: https://www.competitiongroups.com/competitions/OntarioChampionship2024. Click on your name to find a summary of all your assigned groups.

These groups are when you are assigned to compete and/or judge during an event you are registered for.

Per Regulations 1e2 and 1f2, all competitors must be available to help judge. If you're unsure how to judge, please review the WCA Regulations, watch this video, or ask one of the WCA Delegates at the competition.

Please plan to arrive to each of your groups five minutes before it is scheduled to begin. Showing up excessively late to your group may result in not being allowed to compete in that event.

Live results for the competition will appear on WCA Live.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
A cumulative time limit may be enforced (see Regulation A1a2).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
