- Information
Please Be Quiet!
Most of the events at this competition are blindfolded events, which require significant levels of concentration, focus, and practice. All attendees, including guests, are expected to remain silent during these events while in the competition room. There will be areas outside of the venue room where competitors and guests can talk at a normal volume.
Note for new competitors:
Although first-timers are welcome to compete if they know how to solve puzzles blindfolded (please note Regulation 2k6) and/or Clock, this might not be the best experience for new competitors and their guests.
Also note that due to the venue space, this may not be the best competition for spectators. Please consider registering for another competition if this one isn't for you.

Getting to the Venue:
The address of the venue is 132 32nd St, Brooklyn, NY 11232.
By Public Transit:
This is the recommended method of getting to the venue. The venue is about a 5 minute walk from the 36th St subway stop, where the D, N, and R trains stop. Weekend service changes may occur, and this tab will be updated to reflect this when the competition date gets closer.
Arriving into Penn Station:
From Penn Station, take a downtown 2 or 3 train to Atlantic Avenue - Barclays Center station. From there, you can connect to a Coney Island/Bay Ridge bound D, N, or R train that will arrive at 36th St.
Arriving into Grand Central:
From Grand Central, take a downtown 4 or 5 train to Atlantic Avenue - Barclays Center station. From there, you can connect to a Coney Island/Bay Ridge bound D, N, or R train that will arrive at 36th St.
Arriving into Atlantic Terminal:
Atlantic Avenue has direct subway access, follow signs to Coney Island/Bay Ridge bound D, N, or R trains.
By Car:
The venue is near the 38/39th St exits on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. Nearby Industry City shopping complex has plenty of lot parking and is about a 10 minute walk from the venue. While it is expected that there will be spaces open in the morning, please note that these lots may fill up rather quickly throughout the day. Therefore, if arriving later in the day, please plan to have backup parking lots in case the nearest ones are full.
Important!
It has recently come to my attention that the NYC Five Borough Bike Tour will be taking place on the same day as the competition. Unfortunately, the route will be right on the BQE directly next to the venue, therefore the entirety of the BQE from around Columbia Street to the Verrazano Bridge will be closed to all traffic. Expect very heavy traffic on the open sections of the BQE. Plan on avoiding Manhattan entirely. The upper level of the Verrazano Bridge coming from NJ/Staten Island should be open in both directions.
This should only affect the commute in the morning, as the event is expected to be complete by around 4-5pm.
Full closures are listed below. The article is from last year's event, but should apply to this year too as the route has not changed:
https://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/transit/2022/04/30/street-closures-sunday-as-five-boro-bike-tour-returns
Therefore, it is highly recommended that you take public transit to the venue. If you are planning on driving in, please plan ahead of time and add some extra time for traffic, closures, and any other unforeseen circumstances. Large park-and-ride lots are available at Secaucus Junction in New Jersey, New Rochelle in Westchester, and Floral Park on Long Island (plus many others).
Luckily, no service changes on the subway will impact travel to the venue on the competition day.
Nearby Food:
The venue is about 10 minutes away by foot from Industry City, which has a food hall and plenty of other restaurant options. For a full list of options available at Industry City, click this link
Plenty of local delis, cafes, and quick bites are also available around the venue on 4th Avenue.
For First-Time Competitors
All newcomers must be familiar with the WCA Regulations before competing. This video gives a basic overview of the rules.
In addition, please read this tutorial document before coming to the competition.
For All Competitors
When you arrive, you will receive a card with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event. In addition, you will also have judging/scrambling assignments on your card. Every competitor is expected to help out during the event(s) they are registered for. The card will look like the following:
If you do not arrive to help during your scheduled event, and there are not enough staff members, we reserve the right to disqualify you from competing.
Registration Process
Before You Register
All prospective registrants need a WCA account. New competitors can create their own WCA account by clicking here and entering the required information.
How to Register Online
Prospective competitors register by:
1. Signing into their WCA account;
2. Clicking "Register" on the left side of this webpage, selecting the events they would like to compete in, and submitting their registration;
3. Paying the registration fee of $30.00. (The registration fee is the same regardless of how many events are selected.) Your registration is not complete until you have paid the registration fee.
The competitor limit for this competition is 30. The list of approved competitors can be found by clicking "Competitors" on the left side of this webpage. If there are already 30 competitors on that list, it means the competition is full, and any future registrants will be placed on the waitlist.
Competitors MUST register and pay online in order to compete. No at-the-door registrations or payments will be accepted.
Any requested changes to registration before 11:59 PM EDT on Saturday, April 29 will be honored. Your registration is not complete until your name shows up on the list.
How to Pay for Registration Online
Payment is processed through Stripe. Click on the "Register" tab on the left side of the webpage to register and pay all in one place! You can start the payment process by clicking "Pay your fees with card."
Refunds
Approved competitors who cancel their registration before 11:59 PM EDT on Saturday, April 29 are eligible for a refund for half (50%) of their registration cost. After this date, no refund requests will be honored. Attempting to file a chargeback for the registration fee will lead to being blacklisted from future WCA events.

We will be keeping a waitlist for this competition. To secure a place on the waitlist once 30 competitors have paid, simply pay the registration fee. If a competitor emails us to drop out before 11:59 PM EDT on Saturday, April 29, you will be notified if you are the next competitor on the waitlist.
