This competition is recognized as an official World Cube Association competition. Therefore, all competitors must be familiar with the WCA Regulations. If you are new to competing, please refer to the Competitor Responsibilities tab.
This competition is a "PBQ", or "Please Be Quiet" competition. We will only be holding blindfolded events and Fewest Moves, not traditional events like 3x3. As such, this competition is not recommended for first-time competitors, although you are still welcome. You can find other Washington competitions with more standard event lists here.
NOTE: We must have at least 16 competitors in 3BLD to have all three rounds, and 8 competitors must make it to round 2 in order to have the final (as per regulation 9m). We may not be able to hold all three rounds if we do not meet the competitor requirements.

There is a competitor limit of 40 competitors.
The base registration fee for this competition is $20 (United States Dollar).
If your registration is cancelled before Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 12:00 AM UTC you will be refunded 100% of your registration fee.
Registrants on the waiting list may be accepted onto the competitor list until Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 6:00 PM UTC.
We encourage everyone to register for the events they want to compete in via your online registration, however you may add events to your registration up until the event has started.
On the spot registrations will be accepted with a base registration fee of $20 (United States Dollar).
Your registration will not be confirmed (moved from the waiting list) until payment has been completed. Please note that even after payment, registrations need to be manually approved before appearing on the registration list.
By registering, competitors agree to the information in the Competitor Responsibilities tab. This tab details the responsibilites of all competitors at this competition. Not abiding by these responsibilities can result in disqualification.
Competitors will be accepted from the waitlist in the order that they paid.

Before the competition, you will receive a card/nametag with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event in an email. We will also need help judging for the second and third rounds of 3BLD as we can not assign staff for those in advance.

We just ask you know a couple things before coming to compete...

This video will explain most of what any cuber competing for the first time will need to know, however, it is still required that they are familar with the full set of regulations above. It also covers things in terms of a normal competition. Since ours is a quiet competition, some things will be run differently. Feel free to ask when you arrive if you have any questions about how the day will play out.

Q&A:
Q: Do I use my own cube to compete?
A: YES! You are responsible for your own hardware in order to compete.
Q: What is the normal age of competitors at these events?
A: All ages are welcome, but in general competitors are between 10 and 20 years old. Don't let this stop you though, everyone can and should cube!
Q: What is the competition like?
A: This competition is different from most. We require the venue to be completely silent for the majority of the day. Unlike most competitions, there won't be a lot of time in the competing room to socialize. We also discourage spectators for this competition, partially to help keep the room quiet and partially because blindfolded events aren't all that interesting to spectate. There will be a lobby area for guests and competitors to sit in and socialize if they don't want to be in the competition room. If this style of competition doesn't appeal to you, there are many other competitions you can attend that don't require silence and have more opportunities to meet and hang out with other cubers.
Q: How do I find results?
A: All results are posted on the WCA page a couple of days after the competition finishes. However, for the day of competing, go to https://live.worldcubeassociation.org to find information about current events. This is also where you will find information about 2nd and 3rd rounds of events.
Q: Why am I not on the registration list yet?
A: Make sure you pay the registration fee in order to be eligible to be placed on the registration list, which will also guarantee you a spot in the competition. If the competitor list is full, you will be placed onto a private waitlist, which is listed in the order of when competitors pay. Note that in order to be on either the registered list or the waitlist, you must pay the registration fee. If you are not advanced from the waitlist before registration closes, you will be issued a full refund. If payment may be any issue, or you are not sure if you can attend, use the contact button to talk to us, and see if we can work out another payment strategy, or have you pay on arrival at the compeition. No matter what the situation, please register online.
Q: Are there age divisions?
A: Nope! All competitors compete in the same group.

Parking:
You are required to pay for your own parking if you drive. Parking is $6.00 daily outdoors on weekends, or $12.00 daily inside the Central Plaza Garage. Download the PayByPhone app to pay for parking. Detailed map of parking at UW: https://transportation.uw.edu/maps/self-serve-parking. The easiest parking lot is the Central Plaza Garage, which you can navigate to directly. It's recommended that you arrive 10-15 minutes early to give yourself time to find parking.
Dining:
The cafeteria Center Table should be open during the event. They take card only. If closed, the street University Way has plenty of dining options for lunch, including Mediterranean, Thai, Vietnamese, and more. It's a 15-minute walk from the venue.

Airport: The closest airport is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). You can then take the lightrail to the University of Washington or University District stations and walk from there.

Groups will be generated after registration is closed and before the competition day starts.

Time limit
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
A cumulative time limit may be enforced (see Regulation A1a2).
Format
The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
