Competitor List

Registrants must pay the registration fee in order to be added to the competitor list. Unpaid registrations will not be accepted. Organizers manually accept registrations one at a time in the order the registration fees are paid, so your name may not appear on the competitor list immediately.

Once the competitor list reaches the 155 competitor limit, registrants who pay the registration fee will be added to the waiting list instead of the competitor list. Due to the competitor limit, completing your registration within the initial registration period does not guarantee you a spot on the competitor list.

Waiting List

The waiting list is ordered based on the timestamp that registrants paid the registration fee. If you are added to the waiting list you will be informed via an email. Additionally, you can ask about your position on the waiting list by emailing Speedcubing Canada.

If anyone on the competitor list deletes their registration, the person at the top of the waiting list will be moved to the competitor list. After November 7, 2023, the competitor list will be finalized and registrants who are still on the waiting list will be refunded 100% of their registration fee. Registrants on the waiting list may email Speedcubing Canada at any time to forfeit their spot on the waiting list and be refunded 100% of their registration fee.

If the competitor list fills up quickly, registration could close earlier than the originally listed date (November 7, 2023). The waiting list will close at the same time that registration closes.

Competitor groups and judging assignments

Please find you groups and judging assignments here: https://www.competitiongroups.com/competitions/ScarboroughFallB2023. These "groups" are when you are assigned to compete, judge, and/or scramble during an event you are registered for.

Please plan to arrive to each of your groups five minutes before it is scheduled to begin. Showing up excessively late to your group may result in not being allowed to compete in that event.

NEW: Stationary competition format

We will be using a "stationary" format for competing at this competition, which means when it is time for your group, you will be assigned a station to compete where you will stay for the duration of the group. There will be no competitor waiting area like at previous competitions.

This format means it is especially important to be present for your judging assignments, so please take note of them and ensure you are present.

Information about judging

Per Regulations 1e2 and 1f2, all competitors must be available to help judge and scramble. If you're unsure how to judge, please review the WCA Regulations, watch this video, or ask one of the WCA Delegates at the competition.

What is a competition series?

When two or more competitions are in a "series", it means that you can compete in one of the competitions in that series. This allows more competitors the opprotunity to compete at WCA competitions in the Greater Toronto Area.

For this series, you can compete in Scarborough Fall A 2023 or Scarborough Fall B 2023, but not both.

When does the competition start? When should I arrive at the venue?

The check-in desk opens at 8:30 AM, morning announcements are at 9:00 AM, and the first round of 3x3x3 Cube starts at 9:10 AM. Please see the schedule for full details.

What should I expect at my first competition?

Please watch these short videos:

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
