- Information
With the competition happening over New Years, we strongly recommend that you sleep at the hotel that the competition is located in. This is due to the fact that New Years is one of the riskiest nights in regards to drunk driving.
You can either get yourself a private room or split the room with other competitors. For more information on the rooms we have reserved for competitors and private rooms, please refer to the "Hotel Information + FAQ" Tab.
Thank you to Jason White for coming up with this competition idea!

Frequently Asked Questions
Will there be snacks? Drinks?
Yes! We will be providing snacks for all competitors, but you are also welcome to bring your own snacks! There are also some available for purchase at the hotel. If you have any allergies, please let us know before the competition! There will be NO ALCOHOLIC BEVEREGES ALLOWED and please keep in mind Regulation 2k3.
This competition starts late, is there something to do before the competition starts?
A light dinner is offered between 5:00-7:00pm at the hotel. There is a lot of seating in the lobby, you are welcome to arrive early for a pre-comp cubing hangout, as well as have some food before the competition starts. Also, there are numerous attractions around the hotel, the mall, for example, is less than a 5 minute drive away.
What does the sleeping situation look like?
This hotel does not have a limit on the amount of people that can stay in one room. With that, the hotel has set aside 3 suites (2 Queens + 1 couch) for anyone who is interested in splitting the cost amongst 4+ competitors. The suites can comfortably be shared with 5 individuals (2 per queen bed and 1 on the couch), although you're welcome to bring a sleeping bag and sleep on the floor in said room. Although they have set aside 3 rooms, there should still be more rooms available that you will have to book on your own once our three set aside rooms have been filled. Depending on the number of registrations, we might be able to help cover a small portion of the cost for each room shared amongst 4+ competitors. This is not a guarantee, but if we get enough people to attend, we will make every effort to contribute toward these shared rooms. If there will be minors (<18) in your hotel room, the hotel requires that an adult (18+) be staying in the room too.
How do I book one of the 3 set aside rooms for my group of 4+ competitors?
Once you have figured out who will be in a room, contact us, the organization team, letting us know who will be in your room and which adult the room name should be under. I will then inform the hotel to change one of the names to yours and you will then need to call the hotel to put your credit card on file. Then, it is up to you and your group to determine how to split up the cost ($119) amongst yourselves. You will have to figure out who is sleeping where. Like previously mentioned, we might be able to cover a small portion of your room, just ask and we will hopefully work something out. Below is an example of what is described in this paragraph:
Example: Jacob, Henry, Kyle, David, and Max all want to split a room. They decide who will reach out to us. Jacob reaches out to us and informs us that he will be the one who the room will be listed under. I inform the hotel to change the name to Jacob's name. I then tell Jacob to call the hotel and put his credit card on file. Jacob then asks if we (the orgnaization team) can cover a portion of the room. We look at our budget and how much money we can afford to pitch in and decide on pitching in $20 toward the room. This money will then go to Jacob. They decide that the remaining $100 be split up evenly between the 5 of them and thus each of them gives Jacob $20 since his credit card is the one on file. Fast forward to the day of the competition, Jacob is the one that checks in and will be the one to checkout.
How will the 3 set aside rooms be given out and what happens when those 3 rooms have been filled?
The 3 reserved rooms will be given on a first-come first-serve basis to groups that have 4 or more competitors. If the 3 rooms are booked, you can still get a suite so long as they have some available! Call them yourself and book a room! Be sure to ask for the "Creative Memories Rate" and let them know that you are there for the New Year's Eve Cube Competition. If you are a group of 4 or more, you can still reach out to us in hopes that we can pitch in toward part of the room. The 3 set aside rooms are simply to ensure that some rooms are set aside for competitors.
I want to split my room, but I'm not sure who else is looking for someone to share a room with. What should I do?
If you would like to let competitors know you're interested in splitting a room but aren't sure who else is in need of someone to share a room with, please put your name and contact information at the following link:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/199ln4nqZK5RtIsmfWJ6eLxEFqEaVx7YujV48oPpT-y8/edit?usp=sharing
With your information on this Google Sheet, other competitors can contact you if they are also looking for someone to share the room with and you can contact others.
I don't want to share a room with others, can I get my own private room?
If you would like to have your own room, you can still get one at discounted rate. Just inform them that you are staying for the New Year's Eve Cube Competition and would like the "Creative Memories Rate." This should get you a suite for $119. I believe there are 3 different types of suites, so be sure to ask about what they have available! Please keep in mind that an adult must be in the room.
When is breakfast?!
Breakfast opens in the hotel at 6am, and goes until 10am. You're welcome to pull an all nighter if you want to be the first one at breakfast!
What time is checkout?
Checkout is at 12pm (Noon). We have asked that the three rooms we have reserved to have late checkouts.
What if I want to sleep at home instead of participate in the super cool cubing sleepover?
We strongly suggest that you sleep at the venue as New Years is generally one of the worst days for drunk driving. However, we can't prevent you from leaving the competition and going home - we just ask that you remain safe!
