This is a FMC-only competition and is not recommended for new competitors. 3x3x3 Fewest Moves will be the only WCA event held. There will be no traditional speedsolving events.

There is a competitor limit of 40 competitors.
The base registration fee for this competition is £20 (British Pound).
If your registration is cancelled before you will be refunded 75% of your registration fee.
Registrants on the waiting list may be accepted onto the competitor list until .
No on the spot registrations will be accepted.

Once you have been accepted you will receive a confirmation email. If registration is full by the time you pay then you will not receive this confirmation email and you will be on the waiting list. If you do not make the competitor list by the limit date for refunds (specified above), then you will be refunded 100% of your registration fee. You may contact us to ask for your current position on the waiting list.

If you can no longer attend, let us know as soon as possible through the contact link on the General Info page. We often have waiting lists so letting us know you cannot attend allows us to add another person to the competition. By not telling us you are denying someone a chance to compete.

Theodor Nordstrand won with a mean of 22.00 moves in the 3x3x3 Fewest Moves event. Jan Bentlage finished second (22.67) and Lichi Fang (方力驰) finished third (23.00).

Rob's Challenge

Rob's Challenge is a FMC variant in which a team completes a FMC mean in the course of an hour. Teams of two have an opportunity to compete in this unofficial event at FMC London Summer 2023. Previous results can be found here.

Rules

Except as specified below this event will follow standard WCA 3x3x3 Fewest Moves regulations.

  • Two competitors form a team.
  • A team completes three FMC attempts over the course of one hour.
  • All three attempts are submitted at the end of the hour.
  • Team members may communicate during the attempt.
  • Competitors should speak quietly to avoid disturbing other teams and leaking information about their solves.

New Competitors

If you're a new competitor, we do not recommend this competition for you. This competition only has 3x3 Fewest Moves, where you are given an hour to write down a solution to a 3x3 scramble in as few moves as possible. If you're looking for a first competition, please see the UKCA's list of upcoming competitions for more options.

Information for All Competitors

  • During the rounds, please stay silent within the venue. These events require a high amount of concentration and any noise can be distracting. We will announce when the silence will begin and when you may talk within the venue again.
  • Please treat the venue with respect, put all of your rubbish in bins, black bin bags, or take it home with you and keep your area tidy.
  • We may be taking videos and photographs of the competition and the environment for our social media pages and website. By attending the competition as a competitor or a guest, you are accepting that you may be filmed or photographed for these purposes.

Venue

The venue is the dining hall of Forest Gate Community School in Newham, London. The dining hall can be accessed through a black pedestrian gate on Forest Street. Please wave in the window of the dining hall at us so we can see you and let you in. To exit the venue, please find a Delegate who will be able to let you out.

There is a Co-op opposite the school which can be useful to go to for lunch.

Travel

Car: Forest Gate Community School, Forest Lane, London, E7 9BB. There are 65 parking spots available on site at the car park on Forest Street. Additional parking is also available a 10 minute walk away at Centre Road Car Park.

Train: The venue is very near Wanstead Park station on the Overground line as well as Forest Gate station on the Elizabeth line which also operates National Rail services. Forest Gate is just a 4 minute journey away from Stratford.

Plane: The nearest airport is London City Airport however any London airport is very accessible via the Transport for London network.

Coach: Victoria Coach Station provides journeys to locations across the UK and is around 40 minutes away via public transport.

Bus: Forest Gate bus stop is directly outside the venue serving the 58, 308, 330, and 678 bus routes.

Accommodation

A few nearby hotels are listed below, however accommodation anywhere throughout London, especially around Stratford, is very accessible to the venue via the public transport network:

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
